Nice list some I have not heard of some of those. Most of them are pricey so you don't see them very often or have a product that is equivalent for less money.

I understand the type of list you're doing and appreciate it, there are a couple things I had no idea existed, most of the stuff listed though just isn't seen cause it would be used on bigger builds which are in progress, but until a fueling resolution and a 6AT solution they're not really needed by many. Like the built motor stuff.

I'm looking into the revmax transmission right now though

Says the guy who listed a cosmetic billet reservoir(useless) or the TB spacer(even more uselss)? Or the ripoff okjerkmeoff coils?

You didn't even list a single turbo conversion which is more rare(and useful) than most everything on your list.

A lot of the stuff you listed are not on people's cars for good reason...

edit: Why/who needs welded reinforced strut towers? I wasn't aware ours were weak.

not sure about the N54, but I know over in the VW world the TB spacer is commonly used between the intake manifold and Throttle body, it's an easy spot to put a meth nozzle that (when properly sized) provides somewhat equal distribution of methanol mix to each cylinder leading to octane boosting effects. Plenty of cars run fairly aggressive tuning on pump gas with a meth nozzle there and one after the IC before our IAT sensors.

Plus the EA888 TSI engine has an electronic TB that is prone to failing if too much meth is sprayed before it.

Hey bud, not sure where all the aggression towards this thread is coming from. I asked for contributions, you could have thrown the available single turbo kits out there instead of pseudo insults. You dont find the thread useful, noted, but some may. I enjoy knowing ALL products that are available and wanted to create a thread of the ones you dont hear about often.
I'll just consider my first neg rep as a rite of passage.

Thanks Pats. I've added yours to my list. Eventually I'll organize them categorically.

Again, these are just a list of mods that are not well known and not widely used. I always like to have available options in front of me. Develop a baseline for comparing other modifications and manufacturers by pricing, performance value, etc. Any and all contributions encouraged.

    • Exotic Speed RCF Carbon intake
    • LOBA LO470P N54 Turbos (Has ANYONE heard of these? @chrisisnapping, known by VW's?)
    • ER Carbon fiber FMIC shroud (I love this, would be all over it if I had an ER FMIC)
    • Turbo blankets for stock housing
    • E46 M3 intake duct
    • K and N pro series oil filter
    • 3d design power steering reservoir
    • Challenge carbon fiber door panels E92 ( Prob. not too safe but wonder how many lbs shed)
    • KSport BBK ($1500 BBK, theres has to be a catch but didn't look in to them)
    • Phantom G-stop brake lines
    • CMS Brake duct kit

Intake manifold is not available. They threw out a "feeler" but wanted a pretty ridiculous amount of pre-orders iirc. The tooling is expensive for something like that.

Ah. My bad, saw the intro post for it and figured it was coming to production in at least a one-off batch. Not surprised that the demand was not there at the given price point.

K sport uses off the shelf cheap parts for most of their kits, including their air ride, bbks, etc.

Just going to state this one last time many of the products you are listing are uncommon because they don't work, are unneeded, or cheap. Turbo blankets for the stock turbos? The CF door shells are 100% useless but they don't shave much weight from stock, cost 4k, and are purely cosmetic. If you were building a track car you wouldn't use them. Listing a K&N oil filter? What about the fram and the generic from autozone? What makes the 6 lb battery applicable for your list? There are another 10-20 lightweight batteries you could add...

I mean if you guys like this keep going but you should categorize them somehow imo...

Can we add the mythical HPFP upgrade stage 2? What about the defiv direct port fuel, meth, nos plate? defiv lock down kit.

Don't forget to add in all the bushings available. They are uncommon because they are a $#@! to install.

Another way to find uncommon parts is an ebay search.

They would be better off making it out of sheet metal and proving it works before asking people for money. They don't even make anything for BMWs, someone just made it up in CAD for a friend most likely and they made the post to generate web traffic and or get their name out. They look to be primarily a honda shop who is trying to branch out. Asking for 100 preorders is a joke.

Got it, thank you. Those in the market for BBKs knowing about this option would still be to their benefit. Researching what cheap parts are used compared to the well knowns.

The list is not quantified by quality only by available options

Stock frames are used in upgraded turbos as well. May or may not be compatible Again, it's good to know what's available.

If the weight savings are not there then you're right. With weight savings, like power, the first 100lbs is easy the next 100 becomes exponentially more difficult. It's an available option that's all.

Some view K and N as a performance geared company. Theyre used in some well known tuner products already. Fram or generics are not. That's why it's listed.

They have a battery that's 6lbs and is being used in an E90 per email discussions with them. Everyone should know its an option as its almost 80% lighter then the "suggested" 21lb race battery for non track only vehicles sold by the vendors.

Definitely agree. Just trying to turn over every rock before it gets drafted. The reason I created the thread.

When/if those items are actually available they should be on the list. The lock down kit is available but is on back order according to defiv. Unless I missed something and they stopped producing them.

Bushing upgrades may be uncommon but are widely known about. I did consider adding bushing inserts to the list from companies like Whiteline as they are not widely known about or used. At least it did not seem like they were when I was researching bushings for myself. I probably would have at least considered them before I purchased full replacements.

It's a good idea to list products people might not be aware of.

I don't see a problem with the list, I probably wouldn't buy any of them but found it interesting that somebody thought there was a market for a few of these. Anybody in the market for any of that I hope they would do research to find out if it's useless or junk.

Personally, most of that stuff is over priced or not worth the money when compared to the other modifications. The fact that people don't have single turbos spells out why they don't have this stuff: Money.

I have not but think they would fit this thread. Also carbon fiber roof, racing seats and mounts. There was a company offering a light weight windshield but am not sure if it was for E9X. I remember seeing it in a trade show thread in the midwest I believe. Once I have a minute I'll try to dig up info and feel free to contribute.
@nitehawk will need to double check. Maybe someone can chime in. I believe it's an aux. water pump but may be tied in to the aux. radiator.

Would you buy carbon fiber doors before a single turbo with or without a fueling issue? Some of this stuff is useful for the preferential. But a lot of these things do not match up with most people's priorities, therefore they aren't popular. I'm just answering the question. The bang for buck doesn't line up with what they want to spend money on. Personally, I see a lot of value in a line lock and is on my shopping list. A lot of other people probably like it but would rather spend money elsewhere as its not important.
