Sorry missed this, mine weren't noisy at all when bedded in.
If you do a lot of low speed light braking then the transfer layer can wear off and they can squeal/grind a bit. So make sure to use them hard regularly.

I am moving on from this car anyway. I had another track event a couple of weeks ago and car just wouldn't work.
I am over it, so I'm in the middle of parting it out.

I have already bought a new car. I would start a new thread but there doesn't seem to be Frenchboost Click here to enlarge
It's a Renault Megane 275 Trophy R. One of 250 worldwide and 50 in Australia, and one of only two grey ones in Aus. I'm buying it from an east coast dealer so have to wait for it to be trucked over.

There are some more details here
    http://www.renault.com.au/vehicles/s...s/275-trophy-r

A few of the bullet points are
    -275hp
    -1280kg (2800lbs)
    -LSD
-rear seats and sound deadening removed
    -Titanium Akrapovic exhaust
    -One piece bucket seats
    -Harness bar and narnesses
    -Alcantara interior
-Adjustable Ohlins Coilovers with composite front springs
-Brembo brakes with 2 piece front rotors
    -Lightweight Li-ion battery
-Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres

It's nowhere near as quick in a straight line as the 135i but my thinking is that it's already been modified from the factory so I won't be as tempted to mess with it and ruin it.
The only planned modification is that I have been told the decals have to come off by the wife. Then the plan is to just drive it's tits off.

    Few pics from the ad.

i thought you just posted a pb on r-comp's the other day? anyway, shame to see a 135i moving on.
are you taking the car completely back to stock to sell?

I did set a PB, but that was on the lowest boost the JB4 would let me run because anything more than that would break up if I push it for more than a couple of highway pulls.

Then I went to a another track event and couldn't make it through my first run without going into limp mode for no discernible reason (non of the usual misfire like symptoms and no helpful codes thrown).
It's pretty annoying to organise a morning off, spend money on entry fees, wait around for it to start and then drive for 30 seconds.

Car is going right back to stock. All the big parts (suspension, brakes, wheels, diff) were snapped up before I even advertised them.

    Thanks mate, I'm pretty excited.
It's gonna seem like a long wait for it to come over from NSW.

So the new car showed up last week and it is awesome.
It's obviously significantly down on power compared to the 135i but it has so much character and feels like a little race car.

Few pics from rinsing off the worst of crud accumulated while crossing the country.
It's having a proper detail and paint protection applied this week.

Took it for a nice long drive yesterday and I'm impressed. It is very quick and very fun on a twisty road.
Seats didn't get uncomfortable after 2+ hours which was a potential concern.
Steering and pedals feel great, easy to heel and toe.
Has lots of grip and is really well balanced.
Pulls hard out of corners. FWD with LSD is interesting, you can feel it pull tighter into the corner rather than power understeer like you expect from a FWD.
It is noisy with no back seats or sound deadening. Lots of tyre roar, fuel sloshing around, exhaust pop and bangs, stones being flicked up from the sticky tyres which just adds to the experience imo Click here to enlarge

I have booked in for it's first track night on 6th August.

    There isn't.

Unfortunately I predict you will be the only member playing with any Renaults. Would be cool if they were sold in the US market but it is what it is.

It obviously feels much more suited to track work out of the box than the 135i.

I only got 4 laps before it rained, so I was still taking it pretty easy and getting a feel for the car. 4th lap was 4.5 seconds slower than my best effort in the 135i (including downchanging from 5th to 5th for the last corner Click here to enlarge).

So I think times should end up fairly close despite being wrong wheel drive and at a ~200hp disadvantage.

And a video from Chris Harris featuring the Trophy-R, because I'll never be able to drive it quite like this.

which Harry's lap timer are you using, do you use an external GPS?

i finally got my stoptech bbk. received left side very quickly, right side sat at perth airport for a few weeks while i tried to tell aus post that it was there and they said it wasnt. so it got turned around and sent all the way back to turner... second time lucky a month later it did the trip back and made it through the airport! will fit next week.

Harry's is Grand Prix edition and I'm using a Dual XGPS150 which is 5hz.
They have a newer model (XGPS160) which is 10hz.
But I've been using that one for a couple of years and it's usually within a 10th of official timing.

Good move with the Stoptechs, one of the best mods I made to the car.
You need any extra pads or titanium shims?
