As far as Whiskey and Wine... You own me on those topics. I read your post about expensive Merlot. I do like a good French Merlot thanks to a French ex GF.

Tacos are a sore spot. I'm a Californian living in Maryland, I miss good tacos so damn much. I'm gonna go cry.

Ask someone who lives in Maryland where a good Mexican restaurant is and they'll answer, "There's a Taco Bell down the street".

    Thing is, they aren't joking.

admittedly, I never sat in a 2-series of any kind so I have nothing to compare to. But I didn't have any issues with the 135i which should be smaller than the 2er.

So they made the car bigger and the interior smaller? Weird.
    I am 185cm and 95kgs (6'1, 210lbs) and fit perfectly in my 135i.

the interior isn't smaller, it's bigger by juuuuuust a little bit, and they made the backseat larger than the 1 series so i think that sacrificed the cabin space. i know the numbers tell a different story than what i'm saying, but this is just how the car felt to me. i could be wrong, but the 2 series interior definitely feels smaller to me than the 1.

He's saying they sacrificed space up front for backseat comfort and that the 2 felt smaller inside than the 1 to him. Seemed pretty clear.

I'm about your size -10kg, but I would not want to sit behind the drivers seat in my 135i for any amount of time.
I don't care though, I almost never have more than one passenger.
I bought this car for 1 to 2 people max, anybody extra will just have to adapt.

Still, I don't see the extra value of making the rear seats longer if passengers still can not really have no adequate place for their legs.

The other forum is saying it will have a higher hp n55 at around 400hp. I was pretty sure this car would have a 4 cylinder with power close to the cla45 AMG, but who knows.

If the 2 series is smaller up front bc they wanted larger back seats then BMW screwed up

N55 is the cheapest route so we shouldn't be surprised. The N55 already in the M235i I guess tied BMW's hands. The CLA45 AMG and RS3 don't have to contend with a larger motor in the same chassis.

Another M car without an M motor is going to make me lose my $#@! though.

Since the S55 already exists and is in production for the next 5 years or so... it couldn't be that expensive to detune and drop in an M2.

Why work (spend $$), on modifying an N55 again when you've already done so with the S55?

    Something is fishy.

I don't think it's an expense issue as much here as it is the worry that detuned S55 when tuned back up would stomp the M3/M4. BMW protects their hierarchy pretty rigidly somewhat like Porsche.

Kind of stupid to base performance potential solely on the price of the car. Mercedes didn't ruin the world with the C63 having the same motor as the S63.

First of all, is an M2 even confirmed? This is all speculation because a rendering is making the rounds. A rendering put up months ago by this website by the way that now people are all of a sudden catching on to.

    Speculation drives forums.

For example... Which supercharger kit provides more power? There is discussion 'til someone provides graphs and charts as proof. Then more speculation follows because someone speculates one of the vendors faked everything. Then someone proves the vendor did indeed fake everything...

Were people not speculating on your build for years?

No, content drives forums. Speculation is cheap content because it's just based on people posting a bunch of unsubstantiated BS. So, really, it's an indefinite string of nonsense.

This is not a speculative discussion. There is an objective answer.

    Hah, maybe.

Regardless, I want to see something at least confirming an M2 before we get too carried away. Too many automotive sites are trolling for hits without any substantial info these days even the established pros.

Since I'm not banned over there yet, I took one for the team and checked out their rumor thread. Apparently R&T print edition has a "Cars worth waiting for" article this month that talks about an S55 M2 coming for 2017 MY. I can't find any online reference - maybe someone will pick it up or at least get a phone pic of the page and post it up here. Click here to enlarge

Argh I hate when people jump the gun on what I have planned. Yes, I have that issue sitting on my desk. Expect an article on it tommorow.

LOL, sorry to spoil the money shot.

If the speculation about an S55 is true, the car will be a fail. Too heavy, too nose-heavy, too much like the M235 and M3/4...
