    2012 X5M S63 available tunes

    I got rid of my 12 N63 X5 50 and picked up a loaded 12 X5M and looking for tuning options.

    The X5 and my 550ix were both Dinan Stage 2's but see they only offer stage I for the S63.

    I'd like to retain good street ability as the daily driving is seen on this and the 550.

    Well congrats!

    You have several options to choose from.

    OE Tuning, Active Autowerke, Renntech, etc.

    No real data on the S63. It's such a rare engine few dyno or take them to the track. But I know we've sold maybe 20 and a few reported they like the tuning. Your mileage may vary. Click here to enlarge

    Thanks for the links. Narrowed it down to either Renntech or Dinan for warranty issues. My local dealer has taken really good care of me with the Dinan software.

    Wish i could see a dyno graph of after. My X50i put 480tq down at 2000 rpm on a heartbreaker mustang dyno so it was a blast. I think that's what the M is missing with the stock tune from BMW.

    Before you consider Dinan you might want to look at how weak Dinan's tunes are. Renntech is a much better performance option: http://www.bimmerboost.com/content.p...-Stage-2-550xi

    IMO Dinan is way too much money for way too little gained.

    There are a lot of dyno graphs in the forum. You just need to click on your engine prefix and the forum will sort by your motor. So if you are looking for S63TU just click on S63/S63TU to display all those threads like this: http://www.bimmerboost.com/forumdisp...4&prefixid=S63

    How is the around the town, half throttle (ie. Wife driving it)?

    The Dinan II in the X5 50i was very jumpy for the first 10k. Settled down after that but was still pretty temperamental. Reminded me if my GTR on LC2.

    Having put some miles on the x5M it's pretty damn smooth.

    Has the renntech shown any issues with reliability down the road ? Any failures?

    I went through a couple injectors with the Dinan on the 50i in less than 20k and read the M's are just as bad. Pretty embarrassing for BMW IMO.

    All of these tunes are raising boost and timing a bit. I haven't seen any failures yet due to a tune being too aggressive.

    nope, they have been pretty rock solid, and your right...low 12's should be expected

    I received my Eurocharged Performance handheld and will be doing before and after dyno pulls as early as this Saturday.

    Dealer is waiting on a turbo boot from Germany otherwise I would have had it done last week.

    A heartbreaker mustang dyno from Street Tuned Motorsports (STM) in Avon, NY. This is the same place I have had my GTR and the two N63's that I have ('13 550ix and '12 X5 50i) dyno'd. I will dyno it this week completely stock, then flash and redyno.

    Excellent, very well done on your part!

    As long as you have a solid baseline it really does not matter too much. We all are primarily interested in the before/after more than dyno number bragging rights.
