holy guacamole it ate the electrode.

What is the plan for the motor? Build it? Or teardown just to see what caused it to go to sleep?

JB weld the compression drain hole you got there and it should hold another 100k miles.

Any more info on the general car mod/tune/fuel wise?

Did this have to do with the flash or the misfires that went uncorrected?

Youch, the piston looks melted. What turbos and fuel were they running? Do you have any logs at WOT? I'd be interested in seeing the AFR.

Car was FBO, LPFP, meth, jb4/wedges flash with misfire detection off. Car had top notch maintaince, plugs were new, coils were new and my new injectors were in his car at the time of the blow up, for trouble shooting while my car was torn apart at home.. Injectors are back in my car with no issues. Intake valves were spotless. Car ran great with just a jb4, but anytime time the bms flash or wedges flash was introduced. It randomly started misfiring.

With misfire detection off it ran great
    No logs.

    no....misfire...detection....ouch.

I bet the problem was pre-existing (ie not directly related to Ken's flash). I've never heard of a problem like that, piggyback all well, stacked i'm assuming iso boost from the piggy, everything goes nuts. Weird.

Its unfortunate for my buddy that owns this car because it was METICULOUSLY maintained by Sammy and my buddy just got new turbos put on less than 7k-8k miles ago. I mean this car always had preventative maintenance done to it with plugs getting changed every 15k miles, new vanos solenoids, wastegate actuators (boost solenoids) FORGE diverter valves, new coilpacks and the list goes on ... We thought our other buddy blew his motor up running the same flash stacked with a proceed FBO flex fuel sensor running 80% E85 and 100% methanol, but turned out to be the valve stem seals and his head was warped, if im not mistaken...And mine..Same flash JB4 G5 ISO FBO 60% E85 465LPH Walbro....Same issues just didnt turn off misfire detection....THANK GOD..But still has MAJOR issues.

Well the flash had 16.5 degrees of timing and then he dialed it back to 15 degrees because of persistent misfires and thought the DME would have various other failsafes before going BOOM! With mine, I think the only thing that saved me was not turning off mis-fire detection but still, my car DOES NOT RUN RIGHT...The flash that I was on was identical to the flash that my buddies motor blew up...And honestly having that much degree of timing is waayyy to aggressive for a stock N54 motor. Its weird how ALL 3 of us have the engine issues when we have all taken SUCH GOOD CARE of our cars....We all knew what we were getting into but had no idea we would have a motor that had a catastrophic failure..Just trying to push the limits and well... they got pushed.

Second wedge flash car to go. Also with cracked ringlands. Too much timing IMO. The car that blew here was also maintained very well and was fbo, meth, and e85. This is why I tell people to stick with the BMS flash. They are well tested, and good for most intent and purposes.
