2014 BMW F82 production officially starts today - US deliveries later this year starting at $64,200 MSRP

Production is officially underway! BMW announced that the first 2014 F82 M4 rolled off the line today. The first car is Austin Yellow and was presented by BMW DTM driver Martin Tomczyk. The 2014 F82 M4 of course has the 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque S55B30 engine that revs to 7600 rpm. Paired with a relatively lightweight ~3300 pound chassis and a 7-speed dual clutch transmission the car is expected to move fairly well.

US deliveries will come after the Europeans get theirs first. The F82 M4 will set you back $64,200 which of course will go up from there depending on options. Colors available are Alpine White, Austin Yellow, Yas Marina Blue, Sakhir Orange, Mineral Gray, Mineral White, Silverstone II, and Sapphire Black. The turbocharged M3/M4 era is officially underway.

Saw the M3/M4 last weekend. A bit underwhelming in person, I guess I bought into the online hype too much. I sat in the M3, it was ok. They actually look better in pictures. The M3 does look more aggressive than the M4, the M4 rear wide body is muted by the length of the rear quarter panel.

that's what i've been saying from the start!

it's taken months, but finally i find someone who agrees with me LOL

M3>M4 this gen, just better looking. the M4's rear 1/4 panel is waaaay too long.

if they made an M4 gran coupe though.. imo that's the best of the bunch of 3/4 models, just stunning proportions

Funny you said that because I got that kind of vibe. This car has been so hyped up and has so much to live up to.

Personally I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I hate it cause it's getting away from high revving NA engines and moving to FI. On the other hand, I love the styling and the weight loss and the engine is pretty cool too!

Then on the other other hand it make me think about how old my e46 is and I hate it again lol

You people who prefer the M3 over the M4 are crazy.

Not as crazy for BMW for making me have to pick between an M3 and an M4 instead of just saying coupe or sedan M3.

Have you seen them in person? The wide body on the M3 looks way more aggressive. Now that the sedan has the carbon roof as well, I would have a hard time choosing the coupe. It is hard to explain, the M4 just kinda gave the vibe it was a 435i with M-tech bits. The proportions of the M3 gave it more of a M-car vibe.

At the car show the M3 was up front in the display. The M4 was pushed to the very back (kinda weird), with no one around it. I think people didn't even really know it was back there.

I agree that the M3 looks more aggressive relative to its non-M siblings. Also I have a thing for sedans. Both are great though.

    LOL, that says a lot.

I like the price point and I think it will an absolute BEAST with generally cheap mods.

Oh, does it have E46M3 weight as promised early on?

Well I learned today the BMW quoted weight is dry so they exaggerated the weight savings a bit. Looks like these will be around 3400 pounds so yes around the E46 weight.

I'm getting the M3 version of the M4... whatever, hate how they still have an M3 and then a new M4 (M3) moniker, fooking Deutsche drongos... but I have to cart around my fat 105 lb missus, my 57 lb border collie, my humungous 101 lb mo in law and my obese 120 lb father in law... 4 doors for me is better than dos doors

BUT why all the hate... from what I see the new engine will be very good with geniuses like Terry@bms, the COBB dudes et al and THEY will make this a little beast worth messing around with...........

You dudes are all so spoiled by NEW CARS that you forget this will be a 450 hp/400+ talker starter and unlike those $#@!ing supertanker Mercs, M5's, M6's and Audi space ships the M4 may actually go AROUND A BEND at high speed with pizzaz....

I say winner winner, chicken dinner

    Where did you hear this?

I knew they were playing games. Especially since they said it was 3,300 lbs and also at the same time said it was 80 kg less than E93 M3. It can't be both.
