Full BMW 2-Series Active Tourer specifications including curb weight, gearing, and 0-60 - Next generation X1 to use this FWD platform

After the photos and promotional propaganda showing us the abomination that is the 2-Series Active Tourer BMW finally provided the important data. So how much does this front wheel drive BMW weigh? A not so lightweight 3317 pounds for the 225i model. That means with the addition of all wheel drive the weight will only climb. BMW also intends to use this platform for the next generation X1 rather than develop an all new chassis so not only is the 2-Series Active Tourer a rebadged Mini the 2016+ BMW X1 will basically just be a stretched FWD Mini platform.

That is a bit of a disappointment to say the least. Spyphotos of this car testing have already been posted and you can check them out here.

Full specifications of the 2-Series Active Tourer below.

Only going to get worse with the reaffirmation of Mercedes outselling BMW... the 2 series, 1 series and the Merc CLA series has brought their profits a healthy boost ad allowed any Tom, Jack or Raelene to lease one for low spondoolies...

AND the profit margins of the lower end cars are almost the best of the whole line... eg last year the CLA and S series Mercs had the highest profit margins for Mercedes

I also had an X1 loaner. It was hilarious. Fun. Entertaining. And that N20 was, and I feel weird to say this, really fun with the 8 speed automatic. I'd have it in a manual too, it was just like owning a really happy donkey. I can't believe they are going FWD with it. I'm about to sell everything and buy an old Porsche or something.

Heh oh the cruel irony of trying to figure out which BMW's are RWD.
