I have no idea. I've been thinking e36 M, e46 M, or B5 A4 if I'm feeling cheap. We'll see what happens. I need to go out and drive some cars and see what feels right.

That' what I'm leaning towards. It seems there value has gone up around here. 2 years ago before I got my Z I was going to get an 03.5 for 23k with 48k miles. now a similar car is listed for mid to upper 20's. I just have to find somebody who A) Doesn't put a price next to each one of there mods and expect add it to the value B) Doesn't mark up there price just because it is an M3. I talked to two people selling HPF m3's and there is just no way I'll buy a car for over 30k that is vauled at under 20k due to chassis mileage. I'd pay 20's, but people ask outrageous prices.

I think my goal is to find a nice supercharged e46 m. I'm mad because 2 months there was one 2 hours away from me listed for 21k and it was an 04 with 80k miles. I'm just going to wait for another deal like that pops up.

if its an HPF kit though, its worth the price as they have most likely addressed any shortcomings of the car itself, except interior of course, thats still up for bidding. maybe contact HPF themselves and see what they know about that car, or are willing to "warranty" on it..

It's not worth it to me when I can buy the exact manifold from steedspeed and replicate the kit for well less than 10k, especially now that the pro efi thing is coming out.

Guys I need some opinions. I'm having trouble deciding which direction I should go in, E36 or e46.

    E46 Pros:
    -Dashing good looks
    -S54
-Won't require as much work to turbo aside from tuning
-Future of BMW turbo builds just starting

    E46 Cons:
    -Price of car
    -Price of parts
    -Price of maintenaince
    -Tuning Complications
    -Weight

    E36 Pros:
    -Cheap in all regards
    -Light
    -Engine limits known
    -Toquez (just ofr MilkT lol)
    -More tuning options

    E36 Cons:
    -Looks dated
-I will have to pull the head off ( I don't know why but this idea scares me)
-Will have to upgrade clutch (not a big deal, but even the playing field price wise versus building e46)

Honestly I'm leaning towards e46. The only things scaring me are:
-Blowing up an S54 since I will be the one tuning
-Being the first civilian in the U.S. to put together a S54 turbo (not much info to be helped with)
-Having to ask my parents for a small loan if I come up a little short (they've had it with my car expenditures)

Sar far from what I've caluculated building both cars with quality parts is going to about the same. Typing this out is good, I think just kind of answered my own question. I would still like to hear the your guys' opinions.
