Roll cage for E92 with interior.

    Whatcha think?

This is a start, and its on a project so it may take a little time-

1 3/4 .120 DOM tubing.... got the main hoop figured out and thrown in there for some mock up.

B pillars will be shaved and re-wrapped, along with the headliner to get rid of the "bump" in the middle of the roof.....

everything is being wrapped with black alcantera suede.
Cage is getting painted the same color as the car.... which may prove to be difficult to make it look clean. I was thinking of putting some of these:
    http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/...mp_p_1467.html

on the rear down bars, that way I can paint the assembly, then drop it in and weld the legs down into the car.

Its really a juggling act on how to get it in the car and not hurt the interior, not hurt the paint- and of course make it structural.... you know, the main reason it's in the car

Main hoop with an "X", and cross bars for harnesses.... down bars to the rear shock towers, and an "X" will go across those as well.
side bar from shock to shock.
rear seats (bottom and back) are coming out in favor for some aluminum trim, but we are keeping the side panels so it looks somewhat sanitary.

I've been looking for a cage for the 335i for a few months now, so glad to see one coming to fruition! Great job Alex! Put me on your waiting list assuming this is something you can mock-up and ship to Florida! haha

It will be a weld in- but yea, we can make these if you wanted.... We have them saved in Bendtech (our bender's software)

Its going to directly weld to the floor with a plate box, and to the shock tower holes via some 2 1/2" tubing....

Like I said, we are going to be cutting the headliner "bump" out of it- so that makes the clearance work on this one...

Factory seatbelts won't be used either.... more clearance!

Glad you'n'me are on the same page Click here to enlarge

This car is getting schroth harnesses, OMP head restraint seats, solid rear subframe/diff mounts, the front frame rails have been stitch welded and seam welded for extra rigidity, and a couple other goodies. We converted it from sunroof to carbon roof as well- the reason why the roof is off (SUPER EASY TO DO THIS CAGE)

How much do you charge for it? I already have a cage, just curious.

Haven't figured that out yet. The "charging for fabrication" thing is hard to nail down. Currently, we are just logging our time invested, amount of material used and what's involved. This is on a shop car that is going to be a street/strip/track/goof off car, so its not a customers car (unless someone wants to buy it Click here to enlarge). At least we can have a better idea how much it will be installed with the carpet/B pillar/headliner/rear seat mods and fabrication involved as well. Its simply not just a "bolt in" or "weld in"- we are doing carpet mods, interior mods, removing interior to replace with aluminum sheet, all sorts of stuff.
