135i trans/diff/csb whine after hard acceleration

For the most part I havent had this happen until recently but I ran a built s52 e30 last week and after a couple runs my car was making a whining sound which was pretty loud and stayed for the 5 minute ride home

Today I got on it in 3rd and 4t and it started again and eventually died down after 10 mins normal driving

At first I was thinking it was related to my guibo or csb but it seems heat related

Am assuming rear diff over tranny. Sound isnt rpm related. It is the same in neutral, clutch in or out

I know in 3rd it has a hard time hooking up and will usually spin a bit until around 80 so I am thinking diff again. I also always power shift

Anyone else have this happen? Any advice? Different fluid, diff cooler etc? Thanks!

hmmm...... that would be hard to diagnose without knowing where the noise is coming from. you could always do a fluid change on the differential and see if its metallic or not.....

My hearing isnt the best but im leaning towards it being the rear. Gonna swap out the fluid with some fresh redline as soon as I have sone time. Should I go with the 75w-90 or the 75w-140 or w/e that the factory fluid supposedly is?

heavier gear oil is what you want to do when you load a differential up more than usual.
personally, i run shockproof in my M3 differential.
