Buckhead Imports tuned X5M S63 twin turbo V8 dyno results - Peak torque gain of 122 pound-feet at the wheels

It is well established at this point that the new direct injected twin turbo V8 engines from the major German auto manufacturers respond very well to modifications. Here is yet another example with a dyno tuned E70 X5M whose S63 V8 shows some major torque gains. Keep in mind the E70 X5M and E71 X6M have the S63 V8 and not the updated S63TU V8 seen in the F10 M5. This motor seems to show more tune only torque gains as there is more room to raise boost having 17 psi stock versus 22 psi stock and higher compression for the S63TU.

At about 2800 rpm the X5M shows 122 pound-feet of torque at the wheels over the stock tune. That is an absolutely massive torque gain from just an ECU tune. Peak torque rises to 502 pound-feet of the wheels over 401 at the wheels stock for a gain just over 100 pound-feet. The peak horsepower figure goes to 386 at the wheels from 359 stock. Not a huge horsepower gain but this one of those times where the torque graph through the rpm curve tells the story showing large gains before the torque starts to drop off toward redline.

Keep in mind these are Dyno Dynamics numbers. The baseline shows comparatively low peak horsepower and torque figures versus say something like an all wheel drive Dynojet. This is why the Dyno Dynamics has the heartbreaker reputation as when it is not set to come crazy correction factors the numbers tend to be lower than most other popular dynamometers. All dynos are not created equal but what you should focus on is not the peak numbers but the delta here.

    Tremendously.

I've been in a tuned one. It definitely pulls down low. Slows down pretty quick but it's impressive how quickly that much mass moves.

I think we're having a language barrier issue here but they connect to the ECU and are able to flash it. I'm not sure who's particular cables or what tuning system they are using other than they have the ability to flash.
