You know what man? I'd like to do better. I'm not saying it's a good wine, just that I enjoy it. That's the point, right? I started reading through this entire thread, I had no idea you knew so much about wine. I wish I had more time to read (and taste) about this stuff. I'm definitely looking forward to trying that Mollydooker, but I'll have to wait until this summer when I'll move, 'cause you can't get that over here. If you have any suggestions, the door is wide open.

My father was a huge wine buff but it was only recently that my palette started to appreciate it. In fact, tonight I finished one off from his collection:

Crisp, semi-dry, light body, with an aftertaste reminiscent of a dry vermouth. Will have to try this style again sometime.

Now, beer on the other hand...

    Believe that's a Chenin Blanc.

And I love a good beer.

    Good to know, thanks.

I'll have to start a beer-snob thread in that case, haha.

In fact, I've always wanted to hold a beer tasting but haven't met many M3 drivers who also enjoy a good beer. Click here to enlarge

Drinking an Oberon 2010 Cab...you know what it's really $#@!ing good. $19 and Robert Parker 90. Punches way above it's price.

Had a 1988 Pichon Baron the other day. God I love good Bordeaux.

    $19 for 90 is a great value.

Sticky will probably be able to point you in a better direction than I, but I find that many of the second growths offer good bang for the buck. But maybe that's just because I haven't had the pleasure of enjoying a top-flight first growth yet due to cost.

Be prepared to shell out a couple hundred bucks for something entry-level decent. Older Bordeaux can get super expensive.

thanks for the background info, no wonder a good one is hard to come by. Will place it on my "to drink" list. Click here to enlarge

Really you want to go by year. A Great vintage brings everything up like a rising tide.

    2005 is epic.

It depends what you want to spend per bottle as well and you what you consider entry level. I'd say about ~$35 can get you some good stuff. The big names are going to be $ avoid them until you know what you like.

Nah, couple hundred isn't necessary for decent. You don't need to go with a "big name" growth. Hell, there are some stellar fifth growths.

Pontet-Canet being a Fifth-Growth that kicks the ass of most of the second-growth's. It has gotten expensive though because it's gotten so good.

Pontet-Canet is still like $175 for the good recent years (03, 05). Can you throw out a few $35 bdx that are worth drinking? Would love to pick a few up.
