BMW M235i drifts itself during CES demo

    BMW's active assist at work.
BMW is not yet ready to test this on open roads, but the car control of this autonomous system is admirable.

Why are manufacturers pushing towards autonomous driving? What exactly is the purpose?
Honda CBR 1000RR, Superbike Supply, Arrow, HRC, BMC, Lee's Cycle, Galfer, EBC, Revzilla, AXO, Dainese, Scorpion Helmets

Honda Grom, most fun you'll ever have on 2 wheels.

Removing the weak link in the chain which is the driver, and also using more road potential by having cars drive with shorter distance between them. Sort of a car train with digitally linked cars.
Enjoy the times you are allowed to drive your own car for as long as it lasts. ..
The future is about 10 years away I reckon.

Pretty amazing. That has to feel very strange to have the car drive itself.

Even though this is something auto manufacturers are pushing for, I don't think our roads and infrastructure are set up for it, not to mention it will take many many years for all cars to be new enough to have it. I see it as a cool demonstration, its like a more complex cruise control, but this is many many years away and the human being will never be out of the equation IMO.

It may be a long time if ever we see it mandatory to use a system like this, but probably not long until it's common place.

So a terrorist can't use a car to run into a bunch of nuns, duh.

It will also eliminate drunk driving, speeding, reduce crashes.

It will provide for a safer, more secure society.
