    NEW stage 3 update thread. DOC RACE delivery

    I decided to start a new thread to track progress of the kit as it is now in the hands of the people who are going to finish it.

    I decided to dedicate my NYE holiday to the stage 3 kit and picked it from the 034 motorsports on Monday the 30th around noon. Keep in mind the engine and kit had been at the shop almost 3 months. I arrived and it was pushed back into a corner, nothing I repeat NOTHING was even touched on it. It was exactly how I dropped it off. My contact from the company was very friendly as he is always is and a great guy, but I was a pretty annoyed and just loaded into the truck and left. I transferred it into our long distance truck, woke up at 4 am the next morning and headed off to Portland.

    The kit was dropped of at Doc Rac yesterday morning and the entire crew was very excited about it. I was shown around (the shop is under construction but you could tell it was going to be very nice when finished). After we got it off the truck and into the shop, me and Pham (the owner) spent about 2 hours mocking the original prototype kit back up with the new manifolds etc. Pham was hands on and right away pointed out some things he wanted to change, I gave him full creative control on the production kit and told him to improve any and everything he thought could be improved upon. After a lot of discussion we shook hands and I left. Below are some pictures of some of the stuff they were building when I was there. I know they are excited about the kit as 3 hours into my drive back to the bay I got send some pictures that Pham had already got rid of the DP's had and mocked up a new set with a much better fitting design. 3 hours instead of 3 months, I think we should see some pretty serious progress on this kit now and hopefully we can have them in all your hands in the near future...Click here to enlarge

    First few pics is a BAD ASS Twin Scroll Vband set up with a GTX3076 for a Nissan. The rest our just projects scattered around the shop, you can see a big run of the stage 3 flanges in there as well, as the jig for the manifolds. Bottom pics are of the quick progress of just a few hours.

    Awesome! Will doc also be fabricating the inlet piping?

    Don't worry as soon as we get one on the shop car, its going to be put through a LOT of paces. I don't mind beating up on a shop car...Click here to enlarge As for below, Yes DR is doing the entire kit, except for maybe the intakes, which we are still hoping to do custom silicone hose.

    I have been talking with the guys at Doc Rac for a while about collaborating on some projects. They had let me know they would really love to manufacture the stage 3 kit for us, but I thought we have locked it in with 034 and they are local, well that didn't pan out so Doc Race is producing the kit for us. Manifolds, downpipes, charge piping, flanges, etc etc. Everything needed for the kit, of course we are providing them with turbos, and machined small parts to get everything done, and we still may have 034 do the intakes. But the kit is now being manufactured by Doc Race, we couldn't be happier, very nice group of guys!

    Why didn't 034 pan out? Their stuff is pretty damn good too. They do some sick VR6 turbo work.

    Just read a couple of the updates. Mostly because I brought them the kit 3 months ago and they rolled into a corner and made excuses and told me work was being done to it. Finally I met with the big boss and he was like, whoever promised you this was overzealous, we can barely keep up with our VAG stuff right now. We have no time for this. Very annoying it took 3 months to be told that. Picked the kit up the exact same way it was delivered, it I had brought it to Doc Race, I bet the kit would be done by now.

    I know the guys over there, great shop, lots of cool stuff. The main problem was I emailed my contact 3-4 times a week for 3 months, stopped by numerous times, and I was told its going man, were working on it. Not a single thing touched.

    Well at least you didn't experience that for over a year like I did with SSP. The difference being that SSP is a $#@! shop, takes advantage of people, and the owner is a lying prick who had to move states. 034 at least does build some serious cars that function as advertised.

    Oh yeah 034 is seriously BAD ASS. Their parking lot is like AUDI VW porn. I love going over there. They were just too busy, just sour taste in my mouth because of the wasted time, I took a pretty bad beating on the forums for nothing being done, and I was like ARGH, hands were tied. I am confident DOC Race will knock this out of the park, but have no ill will towards 034, I will use them again.

    Ok, cool. Just out of curiosity how were they with the prototype kit on your brother's car, just filters mounted on the turbos?

    Given that your profit margin was already very slim on these kits will this transition mean the price will go up or any chance this was financially a better move and help secure the price that you had already set?

    The price as of right now is staying the same for the kits already ordered. Once we have everyone who has been waiting taken care of, we will reevaluate and hopefully keep the price the same for future orders as well.
