any turbo engine will fail with improper fuel ratio and boost. Detonation comes and destroys the piston, gasket, or rod bearing.

What's stopping us exactly from coming out with a non-profit piggy back tune for the S55 that only costs the materials and rips Shiv a new $#@!?

The timing is between 0 and 5 degrees for the entire log with 6/7 timing corrections. Boost at 17.5 psi is obviously way too aggressive, not only does the log show it, but you should feel that for sure. Don't really know what to suggest other than to move on and run stock maps next time.

What RPM did the engine let go at? I would think probably at a decent RPM and high boost which would make sense because there is no taper and corrections everywhere.

Between you and I BMW should have put the S85 in the E92 M3. But they didn't for the same reason the current car isn't getting the S63.

He is over on the BRZ and FRS forums going full force.

He seems a lot more involved in the Openflash tablet than he alluded to on the bimmer forums. He is pimping a BRZ/FRS Openflash tablet and Openflash header over there.

Found this quote from Shiv on the BRZ/FRS forums amusing:

We don't necessarily believe in trying to get as much profit as possible out of any given item. We would rather sell in quantity and retain goodwill from our customers.

Its ppeculiar to me why they went so small displacement wise. Drivability is based on the displacement so it would make sense to me to throw in a few more CCs to use less boost and have a better street performance. BMW leaves very little room to bore or stroke their new motors too which makes it worse. There is no replacement for displacement, literally. Wish it was a 3.5-4.5L.

They could have easily made a larger displacement motor. Leads one to believe they did it on purpose to keep it from stepping on the M5/M6 toes, even with aftermarket help.

Lets see if they went large on bore space and deck height. Unlikely, but I can dream.
