    Anyone ship a Tranny overseas?

Alright, so I'm trying to ship my transmission to New Zealand, can't find a good legit quote. I've received a couple quotes, they are either outrageous or "estimates" in which I won't know actual price until they receive it, which I'm not waiting to get into a extra $1k surprise.

UPS was $1,800 FYI, even though their online calculator says $600.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    First question WHY?

There is a shop here in Pittsburgh that fixes BMW's for Beaverun. What can they do that he can't?

PS: They used to build me my Mustang and 02 M3 tannies and they NEVER blew at the track.

    Just sayin.

It's a 6AT...no one has successfully built the ZF 6hp21 trans to hold much more power over what the stock trans can hold. I am shipping it because a certain shop believes they can built it to hold over 800 ft/lb of torque, not really another option besides just swapping the trans, and I already bought the spare, so might as well have it built. Car will be ready for it in hopefully 4 weeks.

Here's a positive. Some people are too jumpy with the red button. Maybe I should create secret codes to use it like a nuclear launch code.

It all depends how fast you want it to get there. Cheapest route would be shipping by sea but it would probably take up to 8 weeks or so one way (not familiar with New Zealand). I would search for companies that ship cars, machinery, tractors, semis etc... or maybe you will even find the one that ships packages for non business customers. Also, you can try to search for charity organizations that ship stuff to New Zealand as usually they use companies that do not cost too much.
