That layout is coming whether you guys like it or not. This place needs to get more modern looking and less like other forums. I also want the front page to look more professional. So.. it's going to happen.
Now there's the way! *cracks whip* haha. If only that wouldn't make you a depressed lifeless mess >_>

still looks better than most other forums i use (bimmerfest is too bland and segregated 1vs 3 vs 5 etc. albeit well featured even though half the time it's broken in one way or another, overclockers australia is ancient vbulletin albeit with a functional view quoted posts feature, performanceforums is even more basic.. seriously PF is a terrible forum feature wise, even N54tech is really basic, same as babybmw.. bimmerfest is so terrible it doesnt deserve a mention, and bimmerforums isn't much better)

I understand there's going to have to be progress and upgrades, but it does have to be an upgrade to make the effort worth it? and when you're already so far ahead in most ways than probably any other forum i've ever used...

O_o.. it's just like this but green and white instead of black and slightly darker black? And weird yellow text instead of Black. Going from classy to 'ooh modern web 2.0 ooh' haha

... mainly you need to widen the whole forum or set some kind of auto scaling by screen size/resolution, i lose a good...

well i have 11.02 inches available here, and 7.87 inches wide there. .. and the user info above the posts here are 1.18 inches, there 1.69

then all the little thread titles not being aligned and stuff lol. And again, the whole green thing doesn't feel like bimmerboost, it feels like.. some sort of nature forum?

I didn't read all the comments. But a sticky would be nice, it would help everyone. An official development sticky, with general FAQ, etc. Terry would be able to link there and just provide jb4 specific info on his thread, saving him plenty of headache I'm sure.

The only reason there is a sticky thread on n54tech with a faq is because Terry has thousands of customers using the flash with his products, so in a way he has to provide some support, or pull his hair out with questions. It's also just kinda his style of doing things, he puts things there so he can just link it for questions. Sticky isn't a tuner, he facilitated the software creation but isn't an engineer and can't answer everyone's questions. Unlike on n54tech there's way more diversity of tunes and mods on this site too and that contributes to complexity. Anyway someone make an epic flash thread already, instead of arguing.

My only contribution to a faq thread is a list of computers that work or don't work on a 2007 distilled down to basics from my personal experience.

It can be several colors. Each group of sites will have their own theme. BimmerBoost and the German sites will be black. Domestic likely red or blue.

The colors are obvious. Dark orange for GM family sites, dark blue for Ford family. Because those are their respective colors.

Honestly, I think 1000 points to see a hidden post is too much. It basically excludes people that have less than 1000 points to make an informed decision and prevents them from repping the post. You are left with the guys that have the most rep to decide of the outcome.

500 would be better. Guys that have 500 points are aware of what is going on on the forum and can decide for themselves if a post is worth hiding.

Hiding a post protects a new member from being misinformed about a vendor or a product for example, but nothing else. Posts are often hidden because someone is $#@!ing about somebody else, but if you can't tolerate a bit of name calling, there's the profanity filter.

You'd be better off having a user enter his D.O.B. to make sure he's 18 so he can see a post instead of hiding it... we are all grown men here...

I personally find the name calling entertaining. 500 would be better.

It's not supposed to be open to a large group. It's basically a removed post. Other sites don't let you see removed posts period.

Those types of posts are rarely ever hidden. What you see hidden mostly is spam or just pointless flaming that has absolutely nothing to do with a vendor or product.

It's what happens when you have unrestricted discussions and don't have moderators breathing down peoples necks or constantly attempting to assert their power when people are trying to talk.

Have you fully rescinded all the open-source promises at this point? Why is a fund needed at all? If you just put it out there I think you'd get a lot more software development help.

If you want to commercialize it, just start charging money and get it over with. If not, just MIT or GPL license that $#@! and get it out there already... Sitting on it in limbo either way just means it is going to die a slow painful death.

by 'cronies' you mean 'forum members' right? I vaguely remember some absolute crap posted lol.

You weren't downvoted to oblivion unfairly, you made bad posts, the community acted, the system worked.

i agree with the second paragraph though.

If i posted half the stuff i do here on BP, i'd have been banned 10x over..

Stuff on 1addicts australia gets deleted when it's complete jokes, simply because the srs german mods (wtf put a german mod on an australian section idk) don't get the humour.
