    N54 Single Turbo

Ever since I bought my 335i I have felt the need to make it go faster. First it was a simple tune a jb3 which I ended up upgrading to the jb4, then the jb4 iso, and then jb4 g5 iso. At the same time I went from tune only to meth and then onto my pursuit of using E85 with a FBO car. For a long time I considered RB turbos and even though they are a great product I decided I was ok sacrificing response in the name of more power. So I started looking into single turbos. I knew exactly what I wanted, and that was a 6466 top mount twin scroll. I wanted the 6466 for relatively good spool (combined with the twin scroll) and also because it produces very good numbers compared to turbos in its same size category. Looking at other platforms it seems to be the right choice for the power I wanted to make which is 600whp on pump and once the HPFP issues are solved around 750+whp on E85 depending on how the motor ends up responding to that power. I knew what I wanted and all I needed now was to see how I was going to get there. Just so happens a friend of mine is a fabricator and owns his own shop caller KSR Performance and Fabrication. He build all kinds of awesome stuff on a day to day basis and his work is amazing. When I told him about the project he jumped right on board and this is the outcome. The project is coming together nicely and I just wanted to share some pictures of the progress. It will be another month before its done. The downpipe, turbo to intercooler pipe, 4" exhaust, and trans swap all have to be done still but i just wanted to share progress.

ill have to get a better picture but the wastegate is fed by one pipe that has been plasma cut in half and a divider has been welded into place to keep the exhaust gasses completely separated all the way up to a clearance of 1/16 of an inch to the wastegate valve

Almost done just need the intercooler pipe and oil lines

downpipe is vbanded to a split that attaches to stock exhaust a 4 inch exhaust will later be added

So since they built a jig, I'm assuming your shop is going to produce more of these to offer for sale?

awesome stuff! agreed, love these threads!

ou of curiousity, how much space is there between the shock tower/engine cover re: downpipe? i'm guessing half of bugger all?

Looks like the turbo is MEANT to be there Click here to enlarge

could see a sweet little airbox sitting there behind the headlight + extending down a bit, would look good and clean!

also the perfect spot to have a dummy headlight for the track lol

the downpipe has about 1/4 of an inch all around it you could squeeze a 4 inch in but it would be VERY tight eventually im going to make an intake that has a 90 off the turbo and leads into 2 cone filters behind the grills

    so 3.5" downpipe?

not bad then, kinda annoying to hear a 4" is a bit too tight lol

intake will be interesting to see for sure!

I saw you mention KSR as the fabricator/shop. Kaizen Speed is also a shop that has a single turbo car up and running with plans to market as a kit and I thought that might be who "KSR" is.

    3) New flywheel needed to be machined down to fit on the crank.

Wow that’s unacceptable for such an expensive clutch. Jeez.

OP- first off sweet build. Your shop did a nice job keeping space to the valve cover, like others have said that build looks as OE as a top mount 6466 can look.

I bet that’ll spool quite nicely as a twin scroll, really like where you went from a turbo standpoint. Do you plan to spray meth? Could help with up top if you’d like to run full E85 for fuel.
