Got my Defiv diff lockdown kit and driveshaft loop

I completely forgot to post about this. I got it a while back actually before Thanksgiving.

Just wanted to let people know what my experience was ordering from @rick@defiv. Basically, I pm'd him, paypaled him, got a tracking number, and he shipped this out practically instantly. I got it a few days later and it was packaged well. Like really, really, really, well as the pictures show.

I didn't take everything apart as I'm just going to drop this off at Gintani next week so they can install it. But, I have my lockdown kit and also a driveshaft loop. For guys that drag race the driveshaft loop is really something that is not expensive but can save your life. If you are making decent torque or launching hard I recommend it. I mean why not?

Anyway, thank you Rick and I will update the thread once these parts are installed.

So I take it we are not going to focus on the parts? Shall I do a guided tour perhaps?

Install thread would be cool. Your decorations are more interesting than car parts that you can't even see...

I have the Defiv(non Ti) setup on one of my E92's and for comparo sake I installed the Turner Race Solid Delrin/Aluminum setup on my other E92. Both are DCT M's and to be honest I can not feel a difference between the two. Launches are the same. Throttle response and hook up(especially out of corners) is fantastic with both. The power is instant to the wheels. Wheel hop is nil as well. I feel the real benefit to the Defiv would come with solid sub frame mounts to complete that great product.

What would this do? What would this cost?

I do not know the cost as I have not looked into doing this. I do not focus on drag times enough to justify this. It will for sure create cabin noise and some other rigid sounds no doubt. When you have the brace installed pay attention to where the brace connects to. It mounts to the Diff and then to the sub frame itself( I had to ream out the holes in the sub frame a bit to fit the spacers into it). When I did this I thought what is the extra benefit to this over 3 solid diff mounts? I found none. So with the diff fixed to the sub frame the last point of flex will be the sub frame mounts.

I'm not quite sure if I'm understanding this. I'll re-read this. Maybe I'm just too tired.

pretty sure the subframe has to be partially dropped to install anyway so may as well do the solid subframe bushings as its a very labor intensive job but IMO should be done if you're making power,

also conviently new M cars have solid subframe to chassis rather than sh1tty bushings.

I did not drop my subframe at all, but I agree on the bushing upgrade.

maybe I was wrong, but either way the Defiv lockdown kit is a decent install.

For the subframe inserts, Turner makes nice ones, but they should be all the same, an aluminum shell that's pressed in.
