Crazy. My car has 62k on it and I am about to take it apart myself.

How exactly did that hub get damaged? How are your valves? Need adjusting?

    Thanks for the post

The stock oil pump disk on the exhaust hub has quite a bit of play. The exhaust hub tabs end up vibrating within the oil pump disk. Over time this minute stress causes wear and eventually the tab breaking. Some of the popular solutions, like what @Mike@VAC did is to reuse a stock oil pump disk, but with a re-driled smaller tolerance.

    Mike,

I have been researching this and am going to refresh the entire Vanos which also got me thinking about the head and the VAC stage 3 option. Is there any way to still get the VAC SC cams? Sorry to take your thread off topic. PM if you prefer.

I'd like to learn more about those SC cams and what difference they make.

I know right. Now I'm paranoid about that too. Maybe I should refresh the head over the winter anyway just for preventative maintenance between the hub bolts, hub tabs, valve guides, etc.

Everywhere we go there's those words. Preventative maintenance. Ugh, what did I get myself into. It's like robbing a bank and going to prison. Happy as hell when you have that cash, then you get caught. There goes my rod bearings. There goes my hubs. There goes my motor. Or in my case, there goes my trans.

Ya know, this is the M car you have a major love/hate relationship with. I see it every day. Your car with listed mods is probably a blast to drive, despite not being the fastest car on the road. Grin factor is huge with this car.
