    All motor versus boost - Modified BMW E60 M5 versus a stock facelifted 2014 W212 E63 AMG

Interesting runs here with an all motor bolt on modified E60 M5 V10 versus the new facelifted W212 E63 AMG that features the M157 5.5 liter twin turbo V8. The E63 AMG comes in two trim levels with the standard car (same as in the video below) at 550 horsepower and also a more powerful S version with 577 horsepower and all wheel drive. This E63 does not have the 4Matic system so this is a rear wheel drive versus rear wheel drive roll on race.

Without any forced induction the S85 V10 in the E60 M5 on paper is at a disadvantage. That said, the S85 continues to show its well known top end strength giving the new twin turbo V8 Benz a run for its money. Of course AMG fans will be quick to point out a tune on the E63 would put it far ahead of the M5 and the S version of the E63 would have done better. This is absolutely correct but it is no surprise a forced induction car can see large aftermarket gains.

What is surprising is that an almost decade old smaller naturally aspirated V10 can run with and even pull a brand new and larger twin turbo V8. Just another set of videos that makes BimmerBoost miss the awesomeness that is the BMW S85 V10.

A tune on that e63 and it would've smoked the m5. And this wasn't the S version so not valid. lol but really great to see N/A engines still holding the fort down against these new bi turbo monsters. E60 M5's have an awesome ratio spread where other cars shift into more fuel economy oriented gears it's still in a performance gear keeping the engine on boil.

All of that is stated above. And how is this not valid it's purpose is to show that a smaller and much older engine with simple bolt ons can run with the turbo cars of today. It truly is impressive that you can pick up an e60 for like 30k drop 5k in mods and still run with brand new cars that cost twice as much. We all know a modded e63amg would walk a m5, but then when you talk about which engine has more potential after mods it all comes down to who has deeper pockets.

The s85 has more potential by the way. Just more expensive to extract.

Most NA engines worth modding are relatively expensive to make powerful with maybe the LSx engines being the exception. They come from the factory hot and if you want more power just go about a country mile down the road to Cletus and have him duct tape a leaf blower to it and you'll be runnin 9sec 1/4miles all day

Tune and headers are around $5,000 for the M5 S85. Def expensive, and the install of the headers on the S85 engine is a real mission and PITA!
But that's almost 500whp right there with two mods..

The top end power and repeatable power is really amazing, esp when there modded!
