I'm done debating here. I've modified and raced too many cars. Ulitmately the OP has to decide for himself. Hopefully he makes the right choice, I still regret many I've made recently.
That's fair, I would agree that although out there, performance mods on those cars seem to show much more inconsistent results than our cars which seem to be within 20 whp of each other with similar mods. I mean don't forget, I picked the N54 just 6 months ago when I was shopping for a ~$30k car...lol and I love it! Everytime I use my seat adjustments, heated seats, or navi, or any of the special features it reminds me why I bought the car. Not to mention the active headlights and all the just plain cool stuff the car has

Daily driver you just cant beat a CPO N54. $20k Pontiac G8 GT, $10k in mods will get you 11s. bump to $35k you can mod a CTSV and run mid 11s. Sedans make great daily drivers, BMW has the good tech features if you find a loaded up one.

Man, I love the rain sensing wipers! I can't stand it now having manually adjust the timer or turning on the wipers on and off when I'm in my truck...lol and that side light that turns at night to eliminate the "dark spot" when you make sharp left and right hand turns...it's honestly the things like that which make me so happy I didn't settle for american muscle.

Best option is to have a single turbo 335.

Or something similar to hotrod running a small wet shot on his n54 years ago. He was trapping 132 on stock turbos long before singles came out which are running almost identical to what he was.

No, not even at this price point plus the fueling issues that accompany this. An E46 M3 with a turbo kit makes more sense as it will make more power reliably and handle better.

LOL that guy disappeared after his tranny blew and all his VERY large shot of nitrous gave him was a chance to keep up with supercharged M3's while stripping his entire car out. It's just a few seconds of fun.

Your suggestions aren't very good IMO.

e46 M3 with a turbo kit is going to need a motor build so i don't see how you're fitting it into this price range. a ST 335i has NO fueling issues unless trying to make huge power. $#@! most people are would be happy with an RB/VT2 500HP 335i which is MUCH cheaper than a similar HP e46 M3 that you have to worry about bearing failure on.

ok so 1 person did it one time? you're ignoring the dozens, maybe hundreds of people that have had bearing issues? do you know anything about e46 M3s?

bottom line is if you want RELIABLE big power with an e46 M3 YOU NEED A BUILT MOTOR. PERIOD. which puts it outside of the $30k the OP was talking about. Unless you buy some high milage 02 beat up car. Pretty sure i'd rather have an 09 335i single turbo car.

Don't get me wrong, I love turbo'd e46 M3. A LOT. Reliability has already reared its ugly head. $$ for $$ it's just cheaper to mod a 335i. You can't argue with that. It's all about what the OP wants though. e46 M3 is a FABULOUS chasis that is just underpowered by today's standards. Not it's fault. It was developed over a decade ago. 335i came factory with 2 turbos. It just cheaper to start that way. Best overall potential to this point? Hands down e46 M3. Cheapest way to 500HP. Hands down 335i. Cheapest way to 600HP? About the same I guess. Most reliable? no one knows yet.

You don't need a built motor so not sure what you're saying. You can have 700 whp on the stock internals so how is an RB 335i cheaper or more powerful or safer somehow?

Bearing failures were on early S54's BMW did a recall I'm not sure if you're aware of that.

Stock DME, stock internals. HPF hit well over 700 on the stock internals as well.
