    Same exact symptoms as OP here, luckily I don't do much city driving. Will keep her till spring and then part ways with this car. Thanks for the heads up OP.

    Slamming a car can $#@! it up just as easily.... Reliability just goes to $#@! once you start pushing a car beyond what's "efficient". Just within BMW, the S65, S86 + S54 (all high performance motors) are all known for rod bearing failures. Porsche had the IMS problems, the Z06 has problems with people dropping valves, etc etc

    Anybody know you're looking at with the necessary service?

    How much do a new set of ledges go for? ...and approx how many labour hours to fix?

    The bearing ledges are cheap enough, but replacing would probably be a day long type deal. Not quick work.

    I had the bearing ledge issue on my car when it was stock, took 4 visits to the dealer to finally get it sorted out.

    +1 they started 2 hours before they closed last night, and she was finished around 2pm today then they road tested for about an hour.
