A lesson in BMW posing courtesy of StanceWorks - AKA all show and no go

StanceWorks showcases cars that are modified really by dropping them to the ground and then admiring how little wheel gap there is. There is a market for this certainly and many of the projects are absolutely beautiful accentuating classic designs that many today have forgotten about. This however is not one of those cars. This is a classic example of a BMW poser. Somebody who has a car that looks like something it is not and does not perform how it looks (or should).

The Liberty Walk widebody kit for the E92 M3 is a beautiful and very different take on the BMW M3 widebody. It was designed for the BMW E92 M3 and actually serves a functional purpose in allowing very wide rubber. Does it look good? Sure. Does it also have a purpose? Yes.

Does this car look good? Kind of. Does it have a purpose? No. It's a 335xi posing as an M3. Ok, maybe that is not the most egregious offense in the world but then the car is also on air bags. So essentially the owner has taken a suspension setup designed to handle well and thrown it in the garbage to have absolutely idiotic looking camber and 'stance.'

Illustration of what is not a sexy look that does not belong on a German car:

Ok, fine, so the guy is going all show. But then what the hell is the roll cage for? In case the wheels fall off and the car rolls? What does he need that harness for? This car is not going to see any sort of track. The car barely looks stable parked.

This kit and build will be celebrated on StanceWorks no doubt. It will be mocked and ridiculed on BimmerBoost. Taking a 3-Series, dropping it, then photoshopping the hell out of pictures is not sophisticated car modification. This is tacky modding hiding under an artsy guise. StanceWorks certainly represents an interesting car modding culture that is different and can be respected but this particular build is not one to be respected. This build takes the Ultimate Driving Machine and turns it into BMW rice and the Ultimate Poser Machine. It also illustrates the difference between the GermanBoost network and StanceWorks perfectly.

The forum is about BMW modification and performance so commenting on what is taking place within that is perfectly appropriate. I can say and write whatever the hell I want to about it as I do daily. If you don't like it, don't read it.

This car is a pile of junk IMO, period.

I was going to post and make fun of this car when I seen it pop up on stance works. But there website was such garbage I couldn't even get the site to load.

Truly a parking lot queen. That has been over photochoppped to look even more idiotic than it already is.

Good thing they have a cage in it though, incase of camber blowouts.

Im not sure why Liberty walk doesn't mold their panels either, (Yes I do, because it 1000x harder, takes much more skill and cost double if not triple) but it would look so much better.

I agree its a bunch of trash. There have been a few stanced cars that look alright IMO, but only when they still appear driveable. This car is no longer a driving machine, let alone the ultimate iteration.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what the proper name (mold) for that was... The $#@! looks like it's bolted to the car with hex screws. I don't understand ruining a perfectly good car like that. No point at all.

Vorsteiner already molds their panels so it would be too similar.

I mean they are going for a more racecar/JDM look. It depends what you want:

Maybe they took inspiration from Rauh Welt Porches, but those were actually capable of endurance racing.

I was driving the other day and came up on a 4 door 3 series with just a M badge on it. I pulled up next to them and said "so your single exhaust is so cute you must be running a base model 3 series!" Needless to say the flipped me off and showed my Saturn who's boss when it comes to driving down the road only to catch the next red light.

If you're rocking a M series support it. If you're rocking a 3 series support it. But don't clone the $#@! unless you're actually running the $#@!!

It's like getting a 1970 SS camaro and dropping a 502 into it and calling it original. It's not going to work and anybody who knows something about cars will point it out!

I actually like the color of that car..... But people ruin perfectly good performance cars when they do $#@! like this. You put crazy wheels on a truck, lowrider, or non-performance car it can make it better, but when you take an M3 (or whatever) and do this, you ruin it

Ha, this does look bad. I hate it when people slap badges on their cars. I remember seeing Integra's and stuff from back in the day with Type-R badges on them. It's kind of annoying now when I see people with ///M or AMG badges on their cars, but I just feel bad for them. When I had a 535i I loved that car, because it was mine. I didn't slap an ///M badge on it because it's not being honest and I feel like it disrespects my 5er and the people who have an M5. I think people need to learn to love what they have or earn what they want...instead of faking it.

I don't see an M3 badge on it anywhere and don't see anything wrong with wanting to look like an M3. The issue is how low they made it and the rediculous camber that makes it undriveable.

I'll admit here that I absolutely hate the 'stance' bull$#@!. It's just a new version of rice cars, but instead of posing as race cars with stickers, wings, etc; it's posing as drift cars. Aside from the fact that drifting isn't really racing, it's a style competition less defined than gymnastics or diving; it kind of lends itself well to poseurs.

One thing that crowd hates though is calling them poseurs Click here to enlarge It's a drift version of a $#@!ing lowrider and no different than a Civic with a big wing, loud exhaust, stickers, and a stock motor.

You mean you don't see the M3 quarters, Bumpers, Trunk, Body kit, Side skirts? Or you just find all that acceptable?

He's just saying it doesn't have the badges but we all know what it's trying to look like. It's a poser mobile.

I see an M3 front and rear bumbers. Trunk and quarters are aftermarket and not m3. Fender flares are not m3. And yes...it is acceptable. M3 looks 1000 times better than a 335. 335 looks look soft....whimpy really.

i saw an ipl g37 yesterday that was so low the rear camber was all mess-up like this, it makes me so angry that someone would take a sports car and them make it handle worse. I just dont get it, less contact patch, less stability, un even tire wear, and all just to look "cool". I like to lower my cars as well, to the point where the tire meets the fender and thats it, no tucked in look for me

I like a lot of stuff from Stanceworks but this car is hideous. If the car were a person it would be inbred, live in a trailer and only eat fast food. It makes me want to sell my seats just so I don't share the same seats as something so class-LESS.

He should have bought a M3 than. Oh wait, that would even been more pathetic because he makes the car USELESS for anything more than staring at in a parking lot.
