been researching for a while on the new fuel pump and talking with Alpine madrid Provedor put me in touch with a guy from Barcelona who has a twin turbo lambo and is using this system to manage the entire engine:

    Fully Programmable ECU
    For rotary and piston engines
    4,3" touchscreen display

FuelTech CAN to USB Converter compatible: firmware update, settings backup, ECU configuration, tuning and more!
    - Rotary and piston engine compatible (2-3 rotors, 1 to 12cyl)
    - 4.3” color touchscreen TFT
    - Electronic throttle control (Drive-by-wire)
    - Fuel table tuning aid
    - Closed loop lambda control
    - Full fuel injection control
    - Distributor type and crank trigger ignition control
    - 6 ignition outputs (up to 8 on request) to control wasted spark or coil on plug systems
    - 11 input channels
    - 21 output channels
    - CAN communication with FuelTech products
    - 24 channel internal datalogger
    - Idle speed control by timing

You would need to find something specifically designed to be used on a direct injection gasoline engine.

And it would have to work with VANOS. Not sure if this will or not.

Like ajm said, since there's no Direct Injection driver/software to adjust, it's not gonna work. VANOS is nothing special, you just need the ability to control & reprogram the cam patterns (just like if you used ProEFI/AEM Infinity on a turbo E46 M3). AND maybe it's me, but for a pseudo-standalone to cost only $1500 (vs. a COBB AP brand new that's $850), that's a little iffy & makes me question the computing ability of the EMS.

THAT being said, Motec has their M1 Series EMS that does allow Direct Injection control. So if someone is really ready to get off the OEM DME and has the money to spend, there is an option available.

    This isn't going to work.

I don't even know who has standalones working well in street applications for the N54 because I don't think it's anyone right now.
