E30 W/ M50 Swap need advice with tuning for Nitrous

Just trying to get some advice here for tuning for nitrous. I was trying to find a good plug in and play ems so I can have it tuned for N/A for autocross and normal driving. Then have a tune for when I want to spray. Does anyone know what is going to be the best and easiest way to get my car tuned for nitrous. I have been researching and looking for a EMS that would work the best but now I turn to you guys a.k.a The Pros with experience. lol I knwo some of you had some good and bad experience with tuning. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Cody

If get a direct port setup you can still keep your aggressive NA tune and not need to mess with a new EMS and extra tunes.

I got a single fogger setup. Another thing I am also installing m3 cams, uuc pullies, 3.5" HFM, and I have a custom exhaust. I am trying to get a good ems so i can tune it for N/A then when i spray the ems with kick in and do its job.

So an EMS that automatically pulls timing for the nitrous? I think you will need to switch tunes, having separate ones for nitrous and NA.

M3 cams for NA aren't a bad idea, you can also go more aggressive. Probably leave those for last first and concentrate on figuring out your EMS/tune first.

yes I understand that a EMS will have two tunes for NA and Nitrous. The EMS will set a ground once the Nitrous kicks on to pull the timing. I am also leaving the cams for last. I am just trying to get enough knowledge on what EMS/tuning process I am going to have to tackle. What ems will work for me considering I am going to need 2 tunes? I am pretty sure there is no other way you could have 2 tunes with just a reflash correct me if I am wrong!

What EMS to use is now my question?
Preferably looking for Plug in and Play

Nope, you would need a flash loader of some sort.

Well please explain to me to flash loader and how it would work? I know AEM has the EVOSPORT out but I was not trying to spend that much on a EMS.

Thanks for your help I appreciate it

Allows you to flash your ECU at home so you can change maps, from NA, to nitrous, and so on. I don't know if there is one for the E36 application, don't think so at the moment.

Well, the AEM is a tried and true solution. If you truly want a plug and play replacement EMS, it is not a bad way to go.

So looks like I am going to have to go with a EMS. I know AEM has a great turnout on all or most of there products. But does anyone really know any other ems that would work with our cars? Just trying to figure this all out before I climb more into a project that I would not be able to finish.
Thanks Sticky for all your help I appreciate it.

No thank you, although the tuning options on that motor are figured out and there are better options than piggybacks as stated especially when attempting to tune for a nitrous specific application.

Also, for the OP, PM vendor Apex Speed Technology and they can definitely point you in the right direction.

I have never heard of them doing anything with m50 based motors. Any links to better info for their tuning? The proven humans that I know of are not Apex Speed. Proven tuning is the way to go when messing with your motor. Nitrous can be scary. It is cheap, but you pay to play. If not beeping and then weeping can follow. Nitrous likes to melt pistons. Now alittle more info you the OP doesnt care much. I have a friend who runs 2 75 shots in his 95 m3 with a stock clutch and a 3.5 hfm with a 24lbs tunermotorsport tune. Its not tuned for the Nitrous, but its fast. OP what are your goals. You should know the motor isnt going to last to long. Have you done a compression test/leak down test on this motor? Be smart and start looking for another motor. I would not do what you are planning on doing, but you are a human and want some fast power. That is what you shall have. Just make sure to post vids and dyno sheets.

Your definition and perspective of proven is not what ours is. Apex has E36 experience as well as several generations of BMW's. Maybe check out their site and read their forum so you can get up to speed?

Have the said human vendor mention what he has done here in this thread for m50 based motors. Info and questions posted on a forum make forums good.

Neel is not required to appease you on M50's or when you desire. As stated, if you want to learn more go to their website and poke around. Kind of ridiculous to expect him to post everything he has done with every motor or that he needs to go out of his way to prove something to you.
