    DPs and Smoking Turbos

    Hi Guys,

I have heard that on old turbos if you go catless that there could be smoke out of the exhaust. Is this true for fully catless or even with just cats out on the primaries only? Basically can the secondaries catch the smoke?

    Thanks!

Just depends on how bad, but secondaries can absolutely catch a majority of the smoke. I pretty much had no smoke with just downpipes, but after full exhaust I started noticing it right away, turbos are getting worse and now it's getting really bad.

You can blow smoke through the secondaries especially if they arn't very warm and you have alot of oil burning.

I blow smoke like it's going out of style with my fully catless setup on the stock twins. It's mostly just until the car gets warm though. Can't wait for the single turbo to get rid of that and the wastegate rattle.

I have catless downpipes and worried i would smoke if i went with a catless exhaust...but after putting my ets exhaust on, i dont have any smoke. car doesnt burn any oil and seems really healthy. 87k miles on stock original turbos. no whine, no smoke, just some light wastegate rattle. It all depends on what condition your stock turbos are in.
