BMW F10 M5 S63TU AMS downpipe and Eurocharged ECU tune Dynojet dyno results - Baseline versus modified

Very nice to see more tuned F10 M5's hitting the streets and this vehicle in particular features flash ECU tuning from Eurocharged. Not every tuner is tuning the actual ECU as some are using piggyback modules at the moment so this goes to show Eurocharged's ECU tuning resources. The baseline you see is a 100% F10 M5 on a Dynojet and this is a very healthy car. 534 peak horsepower to the wheels is among the strongest graphs seen for the F10 M5.

93 octane fuel likely has something to do with it. After the install of the AMS downpipes and a Eurocharged custom dyno tune peak horsepower rises to 550 at the wheels. On the surface one might say 16 horsepower is not a large gain but one needs to look at the graph to see massive gains under the curve. With the new BMW turbo motors and how torque drops off toward redline as the turbos run out of steam major torque gains are going to come earlier in the powerband as boost is increased.

Once redline is approaching the gains level off but 48 peak pound-feet of torque gains are quite solid for a tune and downpipes on pump gas. This is something one will feel with the butt dyno the instant they put their foot down.

Graph and downpipe install pictures below.

only 16whp with downpipes and tune? Are you sure this is even tuned? I'd think you'd get 16whp just from downpipes alone LOL...

Of course I read the article. The graph is nice, there is a nice difference in the area under the curve. One would think to get a little more than just 16whp.

Peak horsepower is just peak horsepower. You can see where the torque levels off as the turbos are running out of breath. They could pick up more at peak with race gas.

This graph is off as well. Look at the 5252 crossover. The stock dyno has been shortnend so I am curious as to exactly where the gains are. According to this, area under curve is more than 48 whp, but a more staggering 100+ rwhp at 5252 rpm.

The graph is set to MPH so how are you determining the exact RPM?

He's looking at the point where horsepower and torque cross over which is supposed to be at 5252RPM in each of the runs.

It has to cross at that RPM but the car may be in different gears so 5252 won't be at the same MPH.

Amigos even though there were ONLY 16 whp gain you forget to see that the torque numbers were a GAIN of 48 lbs of torque which is excellent, torque moves cars when needed!!

absolutely....I will take over 100whp in the midrange any day over x hp gain at the end of the run!

RPM as requested. Race gas would be great to play with, we should do that on the next one we do.

Downpipes make quite a bit of difference. Here is stock vs tuned. Quite interesting cars. I don't think we have seen another that is so picky about changes. We tuned 5 F10 M5's a few weeks back with the same software. One of them threw a CEL while the others were perfectly fine. Go figure...

Why are the curves still not crossing in the right spot though on the Dynojet but they are on the Dyno Dynamics?

If you look at the left (hp) and right (torque) scales are set to different amounts. The WinPEP (Dynojet) software can be set the scales equal and then it would intersect at 5,252 RPM.

There we go, makes complete sense.

Hmmm. Interesting. Nice torque gains. Area under the curve is definitely nice. Although there is a member on another board with catless DPs and RPi GTM (so, full straight pipes from the turbo back) and otherwise fully stock who made the same kind of gains in torque at the wheels but almost 3x that in horsepower...wonder how much of this car is due to the DPs and how much is due to the tune. Either way, great results.

Yeah definitely. I still think the tune game is way too early to call on these, I would love to see some boost tables for the graph above.

Im almost positive I know whose car this is, and this car has a Eurocharge tune on it already. So wouldn't be a true baseline dyno.
Anyhow, need some boost readings from stock to after to really see whats going on aswell.

Regardless the point is Eurocharged can dyno tune these things.
