Post VAC Motorsports | 135i/335i Billet Differential Covers Back In Stock

Hey guys, I just got 20 back from the anodizer :-) 10 black, 10 clear. All street length.

    Buy here: http://store.vacmotorsports.com/vac-...e93-p2493.aspx

From our differential building and racing experience, a cool running diff is a crucial part of a vehicle that sees high performance use. M3s and 1Ms shouldn't have all the fun.

We are now offering our awesome custom made differential cover for your 135 and 335!

BMW will tell you that the gear oil is a life-time fill, sadly that nonsense helps them skirt costs and leave the same gear oil in your car forever. This frustration is compounded by the fact that the OE diff cover doesn't even have drain and fill plugs so the end user can do a swap themselves!

Under hard use, LSDs equipped diffs can run very hot, even the OS Giken diffs have been known to heat gear oil to extreme temps under track use. Our finned cover is stronger, and offers much better heat dissipation that these cars need when going to the track.

Now you can change fluid any time you like for longevity and protect your expensive aftermarket differential. A worthy upgrade for your E82, E87 E90, E92, E93 LSD setup.

Each VAC Finned Diff Cover Features:

    • Increase oil capacity by a whopping 50%
    • Increase cooling capacity via heat-dissipating fins
    • Machined from a single billet of 6061-T6 aluminum
    • Drain and fill holes are machined for AN -8 o-ring plugs allowing for easy conversion to a diff oil-cooler setup
    • Integral vent for street cars; pre-machined provision for external catch-can setup for racecars
    • Pre-machined provision for differential oil temperature sensor
    • OE Quality 10.9 grade flanged hex head hardware provided
    • Improved Strength over Cast Cover
    • No adverse effects on ride quality or noise
    • Excellent ground clearance (We have yet to hit the race-length cover on our lowered city daily-driven 135i!)
    • Available in street length and race length
    • As always, Made in the USA in house at VAC

I program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes at work everyday, and I gotta say, from the pictures these look extremely well made. Props on these, they look like works of art Click here to enlarge.

Is there any chance of a N54 dry-sump option in the pipeline? My 1M is in need of a better oiling option.

Redux -- VAC sells a baffled oil pan, which is worthwhile if you track your car. I'm running the prototype on my 1M.

    Thanks guys!

Redux - Our baffle is your best bet. Not muxh demand for a N54 DSK and there are very few people actually racing with the N54. We have 2 clients who race but neither wanted to pay to develop an dry sump kit.

no, but wheel hop is very common on sticky tires and big power.

a second diff ear would work super rad.

The oil pan baffle was already on the "to do" list. They dry sump question was asked because it's required for the bimmer world sub-frame relocation kit that I've been eyeballing. I'm guessing development cost for the dry sump would some where in the 5 figure range...?

    I don't think so.
This is what the Non-M DefIV lockdown kit looks like. It appears that the VAC cover would have fins in the way. Looks like an awesome bit of kit though.

    Hey guys, thanks!

No go on the small pumpkin...demand is not there are these are very expensive to design/make.

535 - we build diffs no problem Click here to enlarge We have only fit it on a 135 and 335.

Ghost - we sell $20k gearboxes. Recently sold a $13k one to an East Coast N54 owner ;-) Price is relative - if you are familiar with design/machining you would know we are not getting rich off these covers.

Mike what kind of temps do you see on an OS Giken Superlock in DE type conditions? Car has about 400rwhp the way I run it at DE's (E85 map) and do 25-30 minute sessions. Any concern on diff temps with the OSG?
