    S65 weekend fun

    110k km,bone stock,cracked block and bent valves.
Replacement engine was the only reasonable solution...

If any of you has markings from the sway bar on the oil pan, your mounts look like this:

Not uncommon issue, mounts are from the S50/S54,way too weak to handle the S65 long term.

My guess would be rod bearing...
Will tear it down when I have some time, but at the moment too busy building a turbo S50,changing bearings and installing Evolve headers on an S85 plus finishing this S65...

Ouch.... That sucks. I plan to do regular oil analysis tests to keep a eye on my rod bearings. Seems like the s65 rod bearing issue is getting bad

Man sorry to hear. Thanks for the photos I bent a valve and it was no fun.

Cracked the block though? Damn. So glad I'm not running the BMW rod bearings that's for damn sure.

Seems like fuel injector stuck open caused the failure.Rod bearing on cyl3 is ok.

If a fuel injector stuck open, I'd expect to see a bent rod or cracked piston, not a blown bearing.

    Help me out here...

Are the S65's "bad bearings" (or bearing issues...) confined to a particular model year (or years) for the most part? Am I correct in thinking the bearing issues were most prominent in the first two years of the S65's existence?

What makes this so? Was the motor manufactured differently after 2009?

There is no damaged rod bearing.
Which is good as I can salvage the crank for another S65 I have.

Car was out of warranty,so had to buy a used engine.

I have seen also later S65s with rod bearing issues.

I guess I misread what you were saying. It looked like you were saying the rod bearing was the culprit but I misunderstood Click here to enlarge

    There are different part numbers.
