I take that back, N54 OEM Turbo setup is Water/Oil; so the TiAL Alphas would work. Since the Water is responsible for both cooling the Engine & Turbos, if you were heavily tracking the car a radiator upgrade would prob be smart.

Otherwise, a strict oil setup is sufficient for a street car and just less complex to setup.

The nice thing about a water cooled turbo on these cars is that the DME keeps the water pump running after the car is shut off to cool the turbo. It's like having a turbo timer.

You can still even get that size turbo as a journal bearing and it wont be that much difference in lag. The smaller you go it will be better with lag, but less power of course. You can get a JB turbo for like 700$ brand new from BW.

I would think ~2500 would be book time on any turbo kit for our car. It's all about how much discount they are willing to give

I just got an email from a guy interested in stage 3 claming FFTEC quoted him 16K for a Single turbo kit, out the door. He didn't break it down for me exactly what they were doing. But seems like a lot more labor than $1500. John, you aren't too far from Alex at ABR, we may be able to work something out with him where he can install you for a better price. I can always talk to him, but if you are gonna sell the spot, I wont bother. Let me know

The labor runs around $1550 as far as I know. The kit itself will vary a bit depending on what you want but retail on the top mount kit is around $7600 w/ the turbo and wastegate(s). I'd expect an install to run around 10k including sales tax, new oil, etc.

Yeah it can add up quickly. I am having FFTEC make a custom midpipe for both cars. Won't be cheap but should be a lot of fun. Click here to enlarge

16k could be in the ball park if hes going from a stock car to single including install. Especially if its a manual transmission. Figure up the single kit, FBO, tune, meth and if they are adding in a clutch/flywheel and maybe a LSD? 16k comes pretty quick!
