    Transmission Slipping issue ! SUCKS!

So after getting drag radials and flashing my car to the e85 map my transmission is now screwed I believe.
The tranny jerks at times and after a couple of runs when upshifts happen there is a lag or slip. Even when diving around in D mode it slips 3rd and 4th. Anyone else have this problem? Has me thinking about switching to a manual now.

Trans Code (Yellow/Red cog wheel) should pop up on your center console or iDrive screen if it's the trans

Are you on stock turbos? That's pretty rare for one of these to go out like that.

slippage is slippage. it sucks. own it. pay for a new tranny, rebuild, or sell the car and get a 6MT

i have had several n54's and i learned my lesson. 6mt is great. for me, it's unnecessary to spend that much money on a clutch replacement. i did it the right way, on top of that. bought from AR design. installed at a local shop that i trust. still was way to much money.

6at's are cheap. pick up one from a re-seller of junked cars. profit.

    Not your sysmtoms, but...

I had transmission errors, but it only occurred on downshifts from 4-3. Replaced filter, fluid and reset solenoids adaptation. It now feels better than ever.

I am FBO with stock turbo. I have never experienced anything like this until I installed the backend flash and drag radials. Did I about 4-5 runs from a dig, now I got slippage.

Is there any DIY on replacing filters and changing fluids?

Have a log of say a 2-3-4 run? Should be able to infer slippage from that.

eBay has a transmission with 65k miles on it on sale for $1k. It's an auto. Of course I would look at the logs first like Terry suggested.

Q1: I'm curious why the Alpina flash would matter regarding slippage?

Q2: how would trans slippage appear on a log? Would it be a bump in the rpm versus time plot?

Who would neg rep me? Anyhow, yes you will see a bump in your RPM plot if it isn't wheelspin. To answer your first question, after I flashed my TCU in D mode I would get occasional gear hops from 3 to 5 but never in gear.

Going to do a log today. So far with normal driving in d mode. Transmission will slip when switching from 4th to 5th all other gears don't slip in d mode. (so far) but that's not at WOT. So I am going to do some logs WOT from 2nd,3rd,and4th and see what it does. Sucks because I have my car setup for track day coming up. Click here to enlarge

The Alpina flash should sharpen up your shifts in Sport & Manual modes. In Drive the trans becomes very lazy & looks to keep the RPMs under 2k (it can become very annoying when you need to make a pass & the trans has already started to downshift)

Trans Slip would require you log RPMs vs Road Speed... If there's a clear disconnect between the RPMs (where an upshift is triggered) and continued acceleration, then you can gauge how bad your trans slip is.

This is what mine did when it went bad. No codes at first and as time went on I started getting codes. I'm using the level 10 with vargas stage II turbos and I haven't had I single issue yet. I guess it depends on your power goals on what upgrade to go with. I wouldn't want to push it with stage III's on this trans. Its a lot of money to build it but on stage II's it shifts great. Oh also have trans. flash.

How did you reset the solenoid adaptation? Bavarian tech? Does the JB4 adaptation reset command reset this?

Q1 It allows less slippage between shifts resulting in cooler clutches which last longer. The torque co relation chart is also slightly extended vs the stock TCU which also gives some benefit for cars running flash tunes.
