Recommended inexpensive laptop for Bimmerboost flash

Unfortunately the only laptop that we have here is a mac and i need to find something to start playing around with this. Am i correct in understanding that windows 8 won't work for this? does anyone have any recommendations for a inexpensive laptop that would be well suited for this application? We just replaced the mini with another n54 powered car so now i have the 335 and 135 that i can start messing with

Also where the dinan flash that the 135 has is read protected so i can't back it up, is there a stock map i can default to if there is a problem? pardon my ignorance but im not good at computer stuff, the extent of my technical knowledge ends with rooting android phones and installing roms which this looks similar to

    Thanks in advance!

If you don't mind the horrible screen quality but will need a microUSB to USB adapter, You will need t reformat it with a fresh version of Windows downloaded ISO from MS
