Question E92 Angel Eye Connector - Cracked Wire Insulation

Can anyone help with the proper process for removing the pins from the grey connector shown below? The insulation is dry, cracked, and literally falling off of the wires on mine, and I wasn't able to get the pins out to heat shrink the wires. I tried using a few different small jewelers screwdrivers to find a release pin in the connector, so I could pull the wires out, but was unsuccessful.

For now I've wrapped the wires in electrical tape and covered them with some vacuum tubing to keep the tape on and keep it from getting everything all sticky when it gets hot.

Well that's not what I wanted to hear, but I appreciate the reply. No way to get those pins out of the connector to shrink wrap the wires in the mean time?

Oh, I don't need to take the whole thing apart. I just need to get the wires out of the grey connector in that picture, which is the one that connects to the bulb or an LED kit, so I can slip some heat shrink over the wires. I was able to get a piece of vacuum tubing over them and slide it all the way down to the internal connector, but I'd rather use heat shrink. I couldn't see an issue with any of the other wires in there.

Most connectors like this have a release tab of some sort to get the pins out, but I couldn't' figure out where it was or how to release it.
