Snowperformance N54 kit vs Aquamist HFS-4

I have been looking at purchasing a meth kit and from reading the forums it seems that Aquamist is highly recommended for non piggyback tunes. I'm running Cobb and will be getting PTF to do a protune map. I saw that Snowperformance has a kit designed for the n54 and wanted to see if anyone has any experience with this kit. I will not be using e85 with this tune so it will be straight 93 octane. Thanks

I've heard from two reputable cobb pro tuners that aqua mist HFS-4 is the best, hands down. I would go with what is proven. Its better to not have to worry about a issue imo

I second this sentiment. I love how the HSF-4 works perfectly with my piggy. After setup the first week, all I do is add fluid when the light flashes.

For those that have installed the HFS4 kit, how difficult was it to setup? I'm reading the manual and thinking it may be too much for a meth newbie such as myself. Also what method did you use to tap the ECU wires?

I have my hfs sat here waiting for me to fit. When the new tank turns up! I ordered male and female dme pins so I can make a harness rather than splicing. That way its easier to revert to stock. I think I can do the install in 4-5 hours. I think the hard bit will be fine tuning the system. Then time for a pro tune :-)

You ordered the pins directly from Tyco? That would be awesome if I could get the pins and plugs and make my own harness for a plug and play solution.

Yes I got the pins from Tyco. Unfortunately I dont know where to get the plugs. It looks like I will have to use my old jb4 harness for those!

I have the AA sport intercooler and it came with a replacement pipe between the intercooler and chargepipe. Could I tap that for the nozzle placement? I figure it's a good distance away from the throttle body and it'll save me a few bucks on the chargepipe.

Yep, you can either purchase the weld in bungs from Howerton, or just tap the pipe with the nozzle insert and just use some thread locker. I did the latter.

Kev those are the wrong ones! I forgot to update the post but the female sockets don't fit the DME and could damage the pins. I ended up ordering them all from from BMW for a few pounds.

I emailed cobb support when I was looking at a second hand cobb. Apparently you can plug it into any car to find out the installation state to check its been uninstalled properly they told me this too..... "
Also, for your 2008 BMW, the Accessport serial number on the back of the unit will need to start with 711xxxxxxx." Might be worth checking with cobb for your vehicle and checking with the seller.
