There is no tune yet for fbo. I guess stage 1 and turn off the dp codes.

I was looking at loading Boom's WBAWL73597-Shivstg0.bin this weekend, but I had a question with the tune "patch." Is this necessary? What does it do and how do I go about doing this? Thanks for all of the help.

Basically there is two ways at loading the Vishnu maps.
    1. Download booms already patched bin file, and write it to your vehicle.
    2. Modify your OEM bin file by applying the map "patch" and write it to your vehicle.

The results should be the same, but I believe the best method is to always modify your OEM bin file vs using someone elses bin file. That's largely based on my opinion, not fact. I just think there is less chance for issues to arise if you are using your oem DME bin file vs another persons, as small changes can exist between different vehicles.

The filename is really up to the uploader.

The guideline is common sense. Plus describing the upload should be simple.

    I hear you though.

I think the major issue when you write in someone else's bin is that you are going to change the VIN in your ECU. From a performance standpoint it doesn't matter, but it may cause you issues if you want to push your sled through emissions testing or registration if your state requires registration inspections.

I just patched mine FWIW. Pretty simple.

Correct about the VIN, but any other variances remain to be identified, and thats the risky part is no one really knows for sure.

I'm guessing it will be the same as other platforms - the great majority of people will have no issue loading in a foreign bin of the same format. A small minority will have problems.

If there is one thing i have learned about BMW, is that the term "same as other platforms" does not apply. Take what you consider normal complexity and multiply it by 10... Welcome to BMW engineering.

Meh. I think every car board says that about their platform. So far it looks to be pretty straight forward - no parametric equations and most things are tabulated.

Is anybody using a definition file not from Proceed?

Yep its straight forward... until you try to actually start making some real power. Not to sound like a dick, but i take it this is your first experience flash tuning on this platform? I'm interested to see you report back after trying to run a good bit more boost up top.

I patched the Stage0 onto my file the other night. It is a bone stock '08 335. No issues so far. Car is much faster. I had some initial issues on the first write (thought I bricked it), but the ECU was able to recover and took the 2nd write much better.

I'll throw it on the dyno this weekend to see how much the Stage0 actually picked up.

Do you have a baseline? Looking forward to a stage0 dyno!

I did do a baseline a couple weeks ago. I was in the middle of tuning some other cars so I didnt bother hooking up the tach signal, so no torque number. So, it will be just an HP to HP comparison. But folks can figure out the Tq if they want to.

Car threw a code this morning when I got on it before it was all the way warmed up. Felt like it shut a cylinder down. Restarted the car, code cleared. Let the car warm up and continued the beat session with no problems. Lesson Learned: Stage0 tune insists the car is all the way warmed up before you beat on it.

Found a few minutes to throw the car on the dyno.

Dyno is before/after with stage0 tune. Stock 08 335i MT dynoed a couple weeks ago. Loaded in the stage0, drove around for about a week and dynoed again. Netted about a 60HP gain.

Pulls were in 3rd without the tach signal to the dyno - too lazy to hook it up.

I just tried to write a patched IJE0S stg1 bin on my IJC0S car and the car didn't start. I was able to read and write with no problem, but when it came to start the car, no dice. Any ideas?

Is that the right kind of file for the car - shouldn't you use a IJC0S file/patch?

Yeah. I'm just trying to see what my options are and if there is something I can do to make it work. My buddy Mike just uploaded Stage 0 and 1 for my car, so hopefully I can get that to work.
