It's a lot IMO. I say you have your uncle buy it, throw it in an envelope, mark it is a parcel in the USPS automated kiosk, and pay like $10. You even get to avoid the customs BS. I did this with shirts Click here to enlarge

Where are you shipping to? Best ask your uncle to buy and when if they have friends flying over to your country just pass along the "gift".

I live in Paris, France. The shipping costs are taken from Bavarian Technic website. It's strange, I've already ordered things from china for example, (the "coding / alpina flash" cable), and it was way way cheaper. The sad thing is, I can't already find the "1 vin" version in europe, and the "3 vin" version would cost me smth like "only" 75$ more, because i can buy it in europe.

I don't think that my US family is soon going to visit me, is the "USPS automated kiosk" a safe way to send this ? Won't it be lost somewhere, or maybe i can pay a bit more to have it sent by my uncle in a more secure way ?

Lastly, is the 179$ the "final" price if it's bougth by a californian man, or should i add a californian V.A.T ?

(I'm sorry to bother you with this, i guess it's not exactly related to this topic)

Shipping to Europe is a constant irritation.
I just don't want to know the ridiculous amounts I have to pay to get $#@! overseas.
Most annoying part is the when it's here you have to pay taxes over the item AND the shipping costs, because they figure "if it is worth this amount to you to get this over here, pay taxes over it".
The US companys don't realize how much they are missing out.

Few weeks ago I wanted to order some items for $25,- each from a company in NY. Items that would easily fit in a bubble envelope.
They charges $75,- for shipping to EU.
I cancelled the order. $#@! it.

Even Terry charges $45,- to ship only a G5 upgrade.
There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works

There will probably be a shipping price on top of the 179. I don't know if the BT site charges 'sales tax'. Usually that only happens when the destination of the product is in a state where the selling company holds a presence. Otherwise, I'd see this as: 190+international shipping to you.

Most likely the only option is to send it by going to the physical post office location from USA. The main reason is the customs form, as if you do it incorrectly and drop it of in a automated kiosk it will not be shipped. In the post office they will help you to fill it out if needed.

As for shipping to Europe in general, most US companies do not want to deal with custom forms and there is no tracking available by sending to some countries via USPS. The only way to make sure the item got there is to use some sort of tracking and in some cases only UPS / Fedex / DHL is available at quite high $$$.

nice! Bought one, in just a few short days I will finally be able to have my very much needed BMS flash back. I sold my cobb in anticipation of the other "open flash" and now my patience has paid off. Awesome job T, Klipsracer, sticky and all other contributors, you got to give a great gift to the community and stick you finger in shivs eye (and both hands in his pocket) all at the same time. Nice find OP I had been waiting for them to cave since terry mentioned he was working on them for this.

Just as an FIY for BT cable with 1 vin, is that you cannot add / buy any additional licenses if you need more.

If you need just a regular obd2 to usb cable, there are a ton of them on ebay that work, but for the money I would buy the BMTechnic package since it includes the INPA, DIS/GT1, SSS, TIS, Nav coder, NCSExpert, and WinKFP.

$86 USD shipped to the US

Oh that may be so. But if you can flash the factory computer to change your vehicle order, and code options to the car that weren't originally there, I don't see why the cable wouldn't work to flash the DME as well.

Someone should give it a shot! Anyone else have some insight?

Hardware wise, the INPA compatible cable are perfectly capable of flashing the DME.

The BB flash app currently only supports the protocol required by the BT cable to communicate with the computer. There is no reason why someone couldn't add support for the INPA cables in the future. Right now the roadblock is reverse engineering the EDIABAS protocol used by the INPA cables to talk to the computer.

The protocol the INPA cable and the BT cable use to talk to the car is the same, but the protocol each cable uses to communicate with the PC is different. Therein lies the problem.
