Turner Motorsport Bosch Motorsport MS4 Sport plug and play S54 standalone ECU system for the E46 M3 offers naturally aspirated gains from 24-76 horsepower

More and more plug and play stand alone ECU options are coming on the market this year for the E46 M3. Turner Motorsport recently revealed their Bosch Motorsport plug and play S54 inline-6 ECU option which offers some solid gains and more tuning options than the factory DME. Turner Motorsport states that gains with the ECU swap alone and the base tune it offers are good for 24 horsepower over stock and 16 pound-feet. That is naturally aspirated power with no other modifications which certainly is impressive.

With headers, output rises by 56 horsepower and 34 pound-feet of torque at the crank. Turner states that with the addition of cams the output over stock goes to 76 horsepower and 50 pound-feet of torque at the crank. Dynographs below verify the output.

Turner blurred out areas of the graph for confidentiality purposes on a race car (those who seriously track their M3 will be most interested in this ECU) but two Dynapack dynographs are included to verify their horsepower claims.

The ECU comes with base maps and can be further customized. Here are the advantages as stated by Turner Motorsport:

The advantages of the Bosch Motorsport system are enormous:
+ immediate power and torque gains
+ all-in-one system with direct plug-in to existing wiring and dash cluster
+ full access and control over engine mapping
+ low cost compared to other engine management systems
+ no interference or limp modes from factory ECU
+ base map file included (the Bosch ECU can hold 3)
+ access to upgrade-specific map files and updates

Is it worth the $6k asking price? For hardcore track guys limited by the stock ECU and trying to get every last horse at every part of the rev range, absolutely.

This is awesome - I am shocked they were able to do this. Is this the ECU out of the CSL?

Definitely an expensive bit flipper, no doubt.

I think the traction control issue isn't important for the track junkies.

For those who want traction control with big boost setups, there are other ECU's that would likely make more sense for forced induction builds.

If you have a dedicated track M3 I seriously doubt you are having your wife drive it. Unless she is that awesome of a wife.

I don't think you understand the application. This for the roadcourse and much more advanced than the stock DME in that respect.
