FYI: Blower Motor Resistor aka Final Stage Unit (FSU) Harness Part #'s

My 2007 e90 335i HVAC stopped working suddenly and I began troubleshooting. To my surprise, I found the input harness to the FSU completely fried and melted to the housing...

The ground wire was absolutely $#@!ed and had melted the insulation back about 2", exposing corroded green copper wire. Talk about a fire hazard! The root cause was a slightly loose cabin filter on the cowl, allowing a small amount of water to periodically drip onto the blower fan, eventually making its way down to the FSU harness on the underside of the fan.

I searched on realOEM and ECS tuning with no luck. Calling my crappy local dealer yeilded the response "we need to change the entire vehicle harness for big money". I called a farther away, excellent dealer, and they supplied me with part numbers for the harness housing and the terminals inside! I soldered in new wire, assembled the new harnesses, cleaned off the crispy terminals on the FSU, and to my amazement everything worked! The housing is still visibly charred but the circuit board apparently made it through the ordeal.

Here are the elusive part numbers for the harness and the two different gauges of wire connectors (power and ground are large, variable control input is small):

    Harness housing: 61136925196
    Large gauge connector: 61138377732
    Small gauge connector: 61138377730

Ive repaired a lot of these.

Its definitely a matter of cutting back the wiring far enough it is clean, getting a POSITIVE connection to keep heat/resistance down, and replacing the connector. I normally replace the final stage as well, due to the krispy stuff.

I also put some contact promoter on the pins to help.

Agreed, you probably saved some poor sucker from buying an entire harness. (That poor sucker being me in case this happens to my car).

No problem! I searched the forums for an answer, and scoured realOEM for a part number and just couldn't find a damn thing.

I posted partially for my own reference should I need the numbers again and lose my invoice Click here to enlarge
