    Yes, an M3 with SC will be out of reach. You are limited with fueling on the DI motors, it isn't like an EVO or STI where you just strap on a bigger turbo and bigger injectors. I won't even get into the fuel pump issues when taxing the fuel system.

    Plus, SC M3's are very fast, I don't think you understand what you are saying. There is no such thing as more power than an SC M3 on an N54 for "cheap." Even upgraded turbos are still short by 100+ whp, and that is with M3's on single digit boost. Wait until you see what is in store.

    I'm not sure what you mean you keep hearing, that is what things are like right now. You really think you are going to upgrade a turbo and all of a sudden have 600+ whp, which is what it would take to run with an SC M3? The fueling system doesn't even support that kind of power output, not like BMW is going to redesign it or abandon direct injection for this car.

    Regarding what is in store, lower compression M3's. When M3's get low compression, rape occurs, to paraphrase others.

    I will say the e36 m3 can be modded easier then most car's mentioned here, and is lighter/more fun. With age these cars gain weight, and make them some what less fun. Easier tuning is more fun. Its annoying that the n54 based cars have many issues with going to big power with failing pumps, and next to impossible to get larger injectors. Makes children weep at night like a beeping Hpf car.

    The e36 was a great car one of the best M models to date...... If you lived in germany we got a non pure and a M52 base motor with a set of cams and a stroker crank....

    Everyone can consider the M brand officially destroyed. They made an utter mockery of it throwing M on everything with 4 wheels. What a joke of a marketing plan ran by snobby corporate drones that have to meet deadlines and growth requirements. Do they care about what M means? Nope.

    Do I care that the 1M will be turbo? No I do not care, I think it's great.

    I care that they've been dragging this 1M, M1, 135M 135 1M whatever the $#@! it is, on for like 2+ years only to reveal a quarter panel. I bet there is a room full of high management people that fuked up somewhere and now they have to fix it, I dont know what they fuked up on, but they did and thats why this is taking so long. I think the M was supposed to come out a long time ago and it didnt because something along the way went south and they are scrambling to fix it.

    For example, stuffing an N54 in there.
    Manual? LOL? Where is the DCT technology so bragged about?

    Body doesnt look that much different than the current 135.

    So there you have it, a hodgepodge 135 with a tune and some suspension work and an M badge. Will it be a good car? Sure why not, but a JB3 135 with swaybars will be better.
    Some people live long, meaningful lives.
