    Nitrous for the N54

    Hey Guys -

I'm currently running a NX wet kit with a 0.31 jet (30 shot). Since I have the 6AT XI model the N20 is activated by the JB4 @ 4500 rpm's to 6500 RPM's to help keep the TQ up once the stock turbos run out of breath and to keep the tranny happy for as long as I can Click here to enlarge

I would love to hear from others that have or had nitrous installed in their 335i. Let us know how much power the car made on/off the bottle, how much of a shot you were running and if you know how much timing and boost you ran.

I just ordered the new VBOX Sport and will have some 1/4 mile and 60-130 times for us to compare. I also hope to get to the dyno soon!

@Terry@BMS I know has ran nitrous, and I think @dzenno@PTF I would also be interested in hearing the answer, not so sure I want to put the motor through that much stress though.

Yes, I spoke with both of them but looking for addt'l feedback.
I did see another guys dyno sheet and he made 80whp with a 30shot.
I can tell you from what I feel on the highway "butt dyno" the power does feel better and more "linear" since I have the nitrous activated after Peak TQ but I don't think its making an addt'l 40hp. The VBOX will tell me how much gain I have comparing my race map with 10deg of timing and 18psi of boost vs. my Nitrous setup: 6deg of timing at 4500rpm ramping to 8deg at 6500rpms and 16psi...

    Was actually really easy.
There is a quick connect fitting right where most guys are running the inline fuel pumps. Just disconnect that fitting, install what is pictured below and run it up to your fuel solenoid. Yuu can easy return back to stock if needed

sorry i missed the PM, I have had it installed for a while now but I am waiting to get the tuning worked out. I moved to TX so Garth was not able to tune the nitrous before I left. I plan on getting him to e-tune it in the next month or so. Happy to answer any questions you may have about what has been done.

Are you injecting nitrous into each intake runner on the manifold, or are you spraying it into the charge pipe?

I have a prototype plate(s) made, it's just a matter of tapping for nozzles, etc and machining o-ring grooves. Been sitting around for months. Busy.... Wanted to provide an option for those who want to avoid having an entire manifold built. Garth's setup is nice though from what I've seen.

Out of curiosity, anyone know how expensive alcohol resistant fuel pumps and injectors are? Would love to build a fuel cell with pump and dedicated lines ran to direct port setup with PI running denatured alcohol/meth.

The hardware itself isn't much more expensive than it's gas counterparts, the cost rises when running methanol compatible line to the trunk, filtration, etc. Basically stainless or teflon braided are the two ways I would go about it. That was actually the main reason for making the plate to begin with, nitrous in addition was just a pleasant afterthought....
And then you would need something to run said injectors...that's where I stalled....

Megasquirt? Should be simple, yet effective. Anything is better than just dumping fuel via a shark nozzle and fuel solenoid.

It's worth looking into I suppose. Definitely cost efficient and could be built to suit. I'll have to navigate their "wiki" to see if the N54 cam/crank signal is recognizable-the vanos could drive one of those boxes nuts if it's incapable of recognizing a variable pattern. Sequential direct methanol is an appealing solution to the fuel debacle...It's really a matter of finding the right system to drive it precisely (and harmoniously with the DME as well...don't think it won't be like "where the hell is all this fuel coming from?!?)

Also unless they've changed it in the last few years MegaSquirt only does batch injection and I believe only 2 banks to inject on.
