    Nice work!!

However, is TunerPro used for the tuning? I believe TunerPro is not open source?

It would be great to have some useful maps available for downloading. Upgraded turbos & e85 + meth Click here to enlarge

Is it easy to change the DME logic?

Tuner pro is not open source. But it doesn't need to be. There are open source map editors out there if you wish to use them. But there is no reason to not use TunerPro for now. The DME Flash application has the potential to be a spectacular tuning program as well, but I won't be involved in that part. I'm now scuffling around in Eclipse with ADT Click here to enlarge

So basically the maps Shiv is releasing can just be copied and pasted into this flasher using your laptop and cable and you don't have to buy his "tablet" correct, essentially making his maps actual opensource as well? If so that's so awesome. Well I mean if you want to run Shiv maps that is.Click here to enlarge

Yes. The goal of this project is not to rip off other tunes. In fact, I think we've coded it the opposite. The focus is to flash the DME as we please, without being tied down, vin locked, etc. Its open, and the source is open. Calling the open flash open, is like calling a prisoner free because they can walk around the yard.

I expected it to be at least a few months before the software got to this point, quite amazing whats' happened in just a couple of weeks.

If you can leave black marks on a straight from the time you exit a corner till the time you brake for the next turn....... Then, you have enough horsepower.

    Post Deleted on E90

    Hello,

As someone that simply reads the forums and has no skin in the game, on E90post, I simply made the statement that I thought I saw topics addressing another open source option that suddenly disappeared. I asked "What happened?" Within five minutes, my post was deleted.

    Interesting...

Right now, we're only limited by the cable. I've seen those cables go from 15 bucks to a few hundred. I can certainly say whats inside matters a lot. And support for each cable has to be coded in, the firmware on the cable also has to jive. More to come guys, just be patient, we're not ready for prime time.

This is awesome but i do have a few questions. This is is for the n54 only right? Will other engines be supported in the future? And does it only copy maps or the entire ecu file? Does this handle checksums? Im sure once the code is released ill be able to work this out myself but just wanted to here from the guys who wrote it. Again i think this is awesome, makes me wish i had an n54

As of right now, the N54 is supported. But, the flashing software CAN work with any MSD80/81. We haven't looked into the N55 yet.

Will other engines be supported in the future?
    See above

And does it only copy maps or the entire ecu file?
The maps are located in the DAF. We can copy the DAF and PAF. We can also request various other sections of memory.

Does this handle checksums? Im sure once the code is released ill be able to work this out myself but just wanted to here from the guys who wrote it. Again i think this is awesome, makes me wish i had an n54
Yes. Once the bin has been tuned, the checksum is applied and flashed back to the DME.

Just a BT cable. And a computer... And an N54. I'd recommend swiping up any used BT cables or VIN locked ones while you still can.

You don't need vendorship if you are not selling/charging for products or services.

You can post about open source software all you want, as long as it does not mention, promote, link to, or cite other sites.

Okay. My first post was childish. Sorry. I'm going to make a new post, but it will be completely unbiased, and discussion based.

Yes it was and trolling/tuning BS won't be tolerated as I already warned.

However, legitimate technical discussions will always be allowed. If anyone tries to drag down the thread with trolling / tuning wars BS, report the post and it will be reviewed.

I've made my post, please let me know if it is acceptable.

On second thought, after reviewing the vitriol you post on other sites towards this one, you will not be allowed the opportunity to post here. Quite two-faced.

To be honest, I don't know what they mean, as if I talk badly about the site, its really Shiv that I direct any negative comments towards... Not to mention, I have pages of calling sticky a little $#@! and him calling me out, so I don't hold allegiance anywhere, But its all good...
