Limited slip differential (LSD) option available for F32 4-Series from BMW M Performance Parts - Engine Tune for N55 (435i) and N20 (428i) available as well

Some good news from BMW who finally is offering a limited slip differntial for the non-M cars which really cars like the 435i and 428i should have a limited slip differential standard. Regardless, the M Performance Part catalog offers the differential along with a host of other parts for the new 4-Series. Some are cosmetic such as a blacked out grill, 20 inch wheels, carbon lip, mirror covers, spoiler, and the black stripe you see under the door. That stripe is perhaps a little boy racer and tacky?

The real news though is the engine tune options from BMW. For those who said, "If BMW could get more power they would" this is the rebuttal. BMW can get more power, they just will charge you for the power they could give you standard if they wanted. Leave the same motor in there and swap a software file and make money. Way to milk em BMW!

For the N55 inline-6 in the 435i BMW raises output from 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque to 334 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque thanks to the M Power Kit. The N20 428i gets a Power Kit as well raising output from 240 horsepower to 272 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque. With BMW tuning these motors themselves hopefully more people realize output can be safely be raised on these motors with mild tunes. Oh, and the aftermarket can get one far more power for far less than what BMW is offering.

It's definitely nice to see BMW offering options although many of these should be standard (the limited slip differential in particular). But people will pay, BMW will make more money, and their M Performance Part strategy is working beautifully just as intended.

    that's AWESOME news!

i kinda agree they should just come with an LSD from factory

but 9/10 owners won't know the difference, and LSD's cost more... simple

non-m's have never come STANDARD with an LSD... though most, back in the day (E30) seem to have them, when people opted for the m-sport packs of yesteryear.

wouldn't be hard to find out

    compare part numbers..

would be too expensive to bother though probably.

though if you mean F20/F30 M135i?.. i'd almost guarantee it. everything fits between E8x and E9x, so why wouldn't it now?

I can't think of a reason why the LSD would not be available for a similar chassis (335i).

I can only assume that they will also offer the LSD in the 235i also and if they do fit similar chassis then it would be a pretty sweet thing.

I'm really starting to dig the front end on the new 4 series, but... and it's a huge but (it's also a huge butt)... that side vent really has to go and the rear looks like it was lifted off an X6.

This car looks fat. The front looks good, but that back looks like a BMW GT which is bleh.

I think it's more the wide angle lens and lack of being able to see the gap between bottom of bumper and the ground from the shadow. Look at the first pic where the camera is closer to level with the window bottoms and it paints a far better picture of the height of the rear end.

I think the car looks really good, I mean damn good. There is something about the front though that just keeps me from falling completely in love...not sure what though. The grille is growing on me, but maybe it's the hood line. And not sure about the black stripe on the side either. rear end looks absolutely sick IMO. Vent is OK, I mean it looks good, just reminds me too much of vents we're seeing on every more cost effective sports car, like the kia optima and ford SHO.
