    ESS 625 @ 9psi vs Ferrari 458 Italia

    Had the pleasure of running a 458 this evening in Mexico land. Did 2 pulls, one from 40 and one from 60. End result was me ahead by about 3-4 bus lengths. Was pleased with how well the M3 pulled.

    M3 with ESS 625 @ 9psi 613hp
    Ferrari 458 bone stock.

    We had a 20-30ish pull, same result but just didn't get it on film.

    It happend when we initially installed the 625 kit @ 6psi. We replaced a sensor in the fuel system (i forget exactly what its called, Andrew @ AR Design can chime in here) and it went away until last night.

    Strength of the supercharged E92 M3 S65 V8 top end - DCT M3 puts buslengths on a Ferrari 458 Italia

    Many people look at the M3 torque figures and horsepower and think peak numbers tell the whole story. Well, they do not. The M3 motor when massaged with a little boost becomes an absolute best namely up top with a centrifugal blower which builds boost with RPM. The M3 revving to 8400 rpm in stock form when paired with this style of blower makes for a very strong roll on racing car. Don't believe me? Check out the video below of a 458 Italia being blown away on the highway.

    Now the 458 Italia is no slouch. It's a very fast car even in stock form. This M3 is packing some heat though running an ESS-VT2 625 supercharger kit with a different pulley for more boost for an output of 613 horsepower at the wheels. The owner posted his dyno graphs with various pulleys showing the effect on output.

    With 613 horsepower at the wheels and a dual clutch transmission just like the Ferrari it is no contest considering the 458 Italia is down roughly ~150 horsepower at the wheels and it shows.

    Well, considering they are from Colorado the elevation is surely going to put the 458 down on power. Anyone know what elevation BlownE92M3 is at? Not trying to take away from his victory, but its not exactly a fair comparison.

    It really did sound amazing - I was under the impression that the throttle response would be "deadened" a bit from the blower, but to me - it sounds nasty quick - I would say quicker than my NA M3 on downshift blip. Nice cars - awesome M3.

    Colorado believe?

    Yep the 458 will be down a bit and he is running a smaller pulley to compensate making it an even greater beat down. Sea level isn't going to do much of anything for this outcome thoug.
