Anybody seen this? Downpipe V-band bolt backed out

Getting my VAC oil pan baffle installed and the shop let me know they saw this:

Bolt in the v-band just totally gone.

Anybody seen this before? I didn't notice any particular exhaust leak, interestingly.

I actually had this happen to me. I must have been reluctant to tighten the bolt down enough. I had a spare bolt and some lock washers that I used on both bolts to prevent this in the future. There is high temp loctite (246) that might work as well.

You can get them from McMaster @ $10 for 5pairs in SS316 or $10 for 20pairs in Zinc coated. http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-lock-washers/=nk8yq0 wedge lock washers

Cheap insurance from the bolts coming loose Click here to enlarge

    insurance, i can agree with

but, for that price, like i said, i'd just grab a handful of spring washers, as they're plenty good for the job lol

unfortunately i'm in australia, so prices are higher, unless i could get them shipped from the states

but if you do every bolt in the car with them, it would end up many $hundreds? haha

That's the thing, these are only needed where critical fasteners need to be addressed.

if you find something that came loose, put them on it. Done.
if you fear something that will come loose, put them on. Done.
if you think something will come loose, put them on. Done.

you don't have to put them on everything! (But it would be cool Click here to enlarge)
