Question Active autowerke BOV vacuume noise?

I currently have an AA BOV on my n54 335i. I am hearing a vacuume noise from the back brass nipple. Opposite from the one connected to the vacuume line. Is this normal? I have never really payed attention till today.

    Hi,

The nipple in the back allows the diaphragm inside of the bov to move up and down. You should not hear any noise coming from that nipple while the car is in a steady state. If you can feel any vacuum or air coming out of that nipple you most likely have a tear in the diaphragm and it will need to be replaced. Test it by putting your finger or a vacuum pump over the nipple.

    Hope this helps!

helps a lot thank you. At idle I place my finger on the nipple and it silences the vacuum noise. I remove my finger and I here it sucking in air. while driving I did notice the discharge sounded different, instead of a "woosh" it sounds a lot closer to my friends STI "woo ta ta" (not sure his BOV brand).
Is there a way to repair it or do i need a new BOV if the diaphram is torn?

You can remove the 4 bolts on the top and inspect the diagram but it may be very small and hard to find. If you need a new one give me a call 305-233-9300 ext 227. They run for $35
