i'd argue for V10's, the LF-A gives the engine/exhaust note contest a fair try lol.

Trust me it isn't how they are trying to record the F10 will be more muffled by design and an uncorked S85 plays the song angels sing as you approach the heavenly gates.

Name a poor sounding high revving naturally aspirated V10.

I've heard uncorked F10's and E60's in person. The F10 desperately NEEDS an exhaust and sounds much better with one but the S85 is on another level.

Without doubt the V10 sounds much better BUT the F10 sounds pretty damn good with exhaust. I was pleasantly surprised.

I kinda like the S65 note over the S85......I know I'm in the minority on that one.....

We complain about far more trivial things as car enthusiasts. The sound is important though.

    true

i just left a dyno day before the biggest guns came out because there were too freakin many S15's (s chassis in general)

there's only so many 400-450whp SR20's you can see dyno'd before you've seen them all...

... that, and they couldn't get the CLA45 to put down numebrs without traction control killing it.

that thread didn't have how to get in it - thanks though

that one just said don't hit the kickdown

problems were had with the A45 where it was cutting the rear wheels from spinning.. managed to find 'dyno mode' in a few button presses+key inserts via google, told the owner to give it a go, not sure if he has yet

apparently they were having troubles with the E92 M3 that rocked up... it only put down 309whp (compared to kirsties 306 135i), they were having trouble getting it to hold a high gear apparently

can you tell this was done at a JDM workshop? (most powerful RB GT-R in the country though lol)

Not a fan of a 500hp NA v10 that revs to 8k AND it can go around a track several times without going into limp mode??? Not to mention with the right mods and tune this engine really wakes up. I mean if you perfer turbos that's cool, but I would rather have a high revving v10 that sounds like heaven

It's an NA 5.0 liter V10 that revs over 8k rpm. The only other place you can get that is in a Gallardo and yet nobody is calling those underpowered probably due to the existence of UGR.

V10 should make more power not less imo that's all and it has to rev high due to lack of torque for compensation, just not a fan as a purest the e39 was a better car then the e60 imo

What you're saying doesn't make any sense. How did AMG $#@! on it performance wise? From a stop the E55 may have an advantage due to the automatic and supercharger torque but the smaller S85 motor would pull it up top without a blower. That's a better engineered engine.

Yeah, it has to rev high. It also offers better response and a race car style motor in a sedan. It's awesome.

Or na 63amg to v10 not the e55 that was ahead of its time from 03-06 when bmw had nothing for 2.5 years to even compeat

I don't know if it was ahead of its time but the point is the E60 M5 didn't have trouble with the E55 or E63 AMG of its time.

S85 was a marvle of a engine, one of the best in its time and to this day.. It has won 10 engine awards in its timeframe of production, one of the most awarded engine ever produced...V10 strapped to a sedan with 8250 redline, 10 individual throttle bodies, variable camshaft control, Dry sump, blocks made in the same plant as the F1 racing engine blocks and makes over 100hp per liter... On top of it being one of the best sounding engine ever made.. Hard to top it..My 6.3 amg engine blew, and for the same reason it has a lawsuit aganist it from numerous forum members engine blowing aswell... M156 makes great power and sounds good, but at the end of the day its just another big v8 strapped to a sedan (or coupe) thats makes good noises..
