I think you are kinda missing the scope of the upgrade. Due to the stock turbine housings being so small even if you shove huge wheel in there (we did) you still get that wall up top after a certain point, it doesn't matter what you do as far as wheel size, the backpressure gets to be too great to run high boost up near redline without hurting things. Now we did have Dzenno running the stage 1's to 21 psi at redline and they lived with you no issues. But I still would not recommend it. This upgrade is designed so the turbos flow more air at the same shaft speeds so you wont need to spin that that hard to make the same power. As I stated in the first post doing nothing but swapping out the GT-R compressor wheel for the GTX has netted 20% increase in flow in the Garrett testing. We are 100% confident these will outflow anything on the market for stock frame upgrades and will make more power with the proper tune and fueling. So even though the same wall exists up top we will be making more power throughout the rev band due to the increased airflow.

These will be hard to resist for the price point, or in a daily driver/weekend warrior, or both...

Not sure, they are both in production. Depends on which parts take longer.

Definitely like what I'm seeing...this could be getting close enough to Stage 2.5 to get by. A couple of questions...would it be possible to get the turbine housings extrude honed or other process that would actually increase the A/R of the housings? Also, now that you've worked out some kind of better intake solution for Stage 3, would it make sense to make a similar intake for the stock footprint turbos? Or are the stock intake tubes not the bottleneck that people assume at 55-60lb/min?

Someone asked about extrude honing / porting already, its not going to do anything at this point. The problem is not a restrictive design. The turbine housings are this small by design. They were made to spool instantly for OEM non turbo like driveability and power delivery, no amount of porting is going to change the AR of the housings and that is where the restriction lies. Putting in bigger turbines opened them up to a point but even those get choked up top. People have made different intake solutions for the N54 no one has proven they provided any gains at all or have proven the stock system to be restrictive. For my money I would leave it alone for stock frame stuff.

OK, when I think of porting I think of the old school stuff people like Buschur used to do around the inlet of the turbine housing. The reason I mentioned extrude hone specifically is that I thought it would actually open things up right at the wheel and actually change the A/R (not affecting the radius obviously, but the area). I understand that we're talking about very tiny turbines but I thought perhaps it could still make a meaningful difference to open it up at that point since you've been clear about that being our choke point for the system. I just didn't know if it would have to be removed from the integrated manifold to do it, which might be more hassle than it was worth.

I think I will order a set of the stock turbos upgraded with thrust parts at bimmerfest east to take advantage of that 10% discount! Would it be possible to place a 50% deposit on them at bimmerfest east and then the rest before the turbos finally get shipped?

The bimmerfest promotion is for stage 2 batch 2 pre-orders only. Stock turbo replacements ship almost immediately after ordering so there is not waiting list. They need to be paid in full The time of ordering. Sorry for any confusion.

Whats the core charge? Im also thinking of these as a replacement for OEM units from tischer, but Im not willing to ship my turbos back to the manufacturer (wheter Tischer or Vargas) since Im in mexico and it might be not worth it for a couple of bucks only.

What would be the final cost with the core charge applied ?

If you call off the wedding you get to keep "a set" and order a set too. Win-win.
