    Radium Engineering Catch Can Installed

Inspired by my local buddy @MisterEm, and @0-60Motorsports recent review: http://www.bimmerboost.com/showthrea...all-and-Review, I decided to join the catch can club.

The Radium Engineering product is well designed and manufactured: http://radiumauto.com/media/blog-pag...tch-Can-Kit-79
The dipstick is a nice easy way to determine when it's time to empty out the can. The can mounting frame fits existing screw holes in the compartment.

The only pics I could find of catch can installs were on '01/'04 models. On the '05/'06 cars, there is additional hardware and wiring in the setup. So, I used a pair of 90 degree connectors to route the vent hose to the catch can input. For the catch can output to the ESS intake tube connection, I used 50" of hose.

Frame install. The little towel came in handy, catching the bolt I dropped during the installation.

Can installed with the in & out hose connector mounts.
The upper mount rotates, which makes can mount and hose fitment a breeze.

No clamps needed. The fin/barbs make a very tight seal.

    Another angle after the installation.
I used some small diameter hose to line the sharp ridges of the opening into the engine bay.

I've had the s/c kit for 16,000 miles, including a few track days.
Here's the oil buildup in the intake tube. All cleaned up now.

Here's the s/c impeller after 16,000 miles with no catch can. Not too bad.
There was no liquid oil on the blades. Still wiped everything up best I could.

All buttoned up. Beast runs great.

Looks great @normcaldwell. Now we need some celebratory hoppy beverages.

Now I have $350 bleeding a hole in wallet. Better prepare the wife for more boxes to sign for!

Let me reiterate that last point.... the CB 46M beast runs smooth as glass. I got a chance to bang gears in Norm's car a few weeks ago. Feels like a docile S54 until the rpm's creep past 4k and by then its too late. You too will lust for a boosted S54 after you drive Norm's car.

The S/C kit and tune compliments the car instead of transforming it. Other S/C powered 46M's should strive to reach Norm's M current state.

    -Linear throttle response.
    -Excellent throttle mapping.
    -OE clutch engagement and grab.

Thanks guys. I'm glad to have the can installed. Now, my fuel consumption will go up, 'cause I'll rip on it even more.
I was glad to not see oil dripping all over the impeller blades. Will be curious to see what's in the can after some track time.

I'm on the lookout for a 180 degree molded 5/8 heater hose, which would make a cleaner and better flowing re-direct to the can intake. I see a couple out there. Would prefer to get one that is about 15" long on one of the legs. Or, just 15" long on both legs for that matter; can cut to fit.

Radium has an optional can drain setup with valve and hose. I think it's not necessary because I can easily remove the lower portion with everything in place. This is probably true for most of the available catch can products.

The throttle mapping to which @MisterEm refers; that would be Sal's doing . . . . . I'm very pleased with the combo of ESS hardware and Evolve mapping.

On another note, I also installed the OE armrest delete console. Like the 3.91 gears, I don't know why the hell I didn't do this 5 years ago!
