Not so fast my friend. The tuning has a lot to do with it although the numbers are worrisome. What is my point? There is much more to this story than slightly higher IATs with the Dinan intake. The IAT delta between timed runs would be more objective as each car was tested in different conditions.

As for the Throttle Bodies - the Dinan ITBs (as do the other brands) make more power on the S54 - everywhere. Not sure about the S65.

The tunes are so different between the three cars that they should not even be compared.

    1. Compare the ignition targets, throttle opening and timing of all three cars. Particularly notice the dinan has 85% throttle opening at the upper end of the RPM range and ignition targets in the low teens - ESS and RDsport = 100% throttle and targets in the high 20's low 30's. THIS IS SIGNIFICANT!
    2. The ESS catless tune, and RDsport tune had much higher (e.g. AGGRESSIVE) timing and ignition targets. If the Dinan car had a tune that sought to eek every extra pony out - a la the ESS tune and RDsport tune - both RWHP and RWTQ will go up and dramatically.
    3. Ambient weather was "close" between the three - but nowhere near the same to claim them "equal."

The only way to do this properly is to have one company tune all 3 on the same day. We already know that Dinan is extremely conservative in regards to tuning and the data showed in the E90 thread illustrated it with a modest throttle opening and weak ignition targets.

Give the Dinan an aggressive Evolve tune and I bet the graph changes dramatically.

    No doubt about it.

See past the bull$#@! - especially when the article itself is written by "Alekshop" tuning.
